FIRESTONES VISIT HERE. Mr. and Mrs. John Firestone from Spence(r), Ohio were down a couple of days ago visiting Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Buchanan. Mr. Firestone is one of the celebrated automobile tire making family and is related to the Buchanan family.

Charlton County Herald - February 24, 1927
BUCHANAN HOME BURNED. Sunday afternoon about five o'clock the pretty two story residence occupied by Mr. and Mrs. C.S. Buchanan and owned by Dr. Buchanan was discovered to be on fire in the attic, but the flames had gained such headway that it was impossible to save the building. A volunteer band helped move the furniture and save the buildings across the street as a stiff breeze was blowing. Practically all the furniture was saved. We understand there was no insurance.

Charlton County Herald - March 7, 1930
BUCHANANS TO BE HERE SOON. Hamp Wainwright has been busy re-covering the Buchanan house on the Dixie Highway near the Aviation Field. We learned that goods belonging to C.S. Buchanan, his son, have arrived and that he will soon be here from his Colorado home.

Charlton County Herald - December 22, 1939
HOMELAND POST OFFICE DESTROYED BY FIRE. The post office building at Homeland was completely destroyed by fire early yesterday morning. The upstairs was occupied by the Buchanan family who narrowly escaped with their lives. Mrs. Buchanan gave the alarm but when neighbors arrived it was impossible to save the building. The Buchanans saved very little of their belongings. The mail and most of the post office equipment was saved. Eli Waughtel was postmaster and owner of the building. There was no insurance. This is the second post office building to be destroyed by fire in Homeland. Homeland wishes to thank the Folkston fire fighters who helped to save the home of C.W. Waughtel.

Charlton County Herald - December 5, 1930
BUCHANAN MARKETS MORE TIES. Mr. Clarence Buchanan, who is looking after his father's interests in Folkston has put on a new Ford truck between Folkston and Jacksonville to transport ties, finding that by picking them up and taking them right on to market saves money. They can haul them as fast as his crew cuts them, keeping the trucks busy. Passieu Motor Co. sold Mr. Buchanan the truck and a trailer which also hauls 50 ties at a load.
