Note*   LDS shows many of Dr. Jared Cone's children born in West Carlisle, Franklin Co., OH. There is no West Carlisle in Franklin. It probably is Franklin Twp in Coshocton Co. which is where Conesville exists today. West Carlisle is west of Franlin Twp in Pike Twp and as far as I know, there are no Cones found there. It is clear that the cones were in Dresden and Adams Mills in Jefferson and Madison townships Muskingum Co., OH and Franklin Twp. in Coshocton Co. This is in addition to Jared Cone in Monroe township, Muskingum Co and Dr. Jared Cone later in Salem township.

Jared is often confused with his father and it is unclear whether it was he or his father that had a store in Adamsville and helped lat out the northern plat of the town. If Jared lived in Franklin township, Coshocton Co. for a time where his children were born, then he moved back to Adamsville because he served as a physician there from 1845-1855, well after the birth of his children.

It is also possible that the LDS records are wrong and it was assumed they were living in Conesville which they might have later on. He built a red brick home on the corner of Cambridge and East Street in 1840 which still stands.

Jared Cone built a Store on lot 2 of the Adams plat of Adamsville in 1835 across the street from the house mentioned above. He served for a time as postmaster the same year as the postoffice was moved to his store from Mechanicsville where it was firs established.
