He was married to Miss Lettie Landis Sept. 7, 1898, who survives with three children, Edmund Gaumer of Cleveland, Ohio; Miss Robin Gaumer, of East Palatka, Florida, and Mrs. Lois Ross, who with her husband , Harvey Ross, and three children, also reside at East Palatka.     In his boyhood days, Mr. Gaumer resided in Adamsville in the property now occupied by Ira Thomas.

Mr. Gaumer took over the editorship of the Champaign Democrat, in Urbana at the death of his father, in 1893. In 1898 he purchased the Monticello, Ill., Bulletin, later purchasing the Middletown, Ohio Evening Signal, which he sold after twelve years ownership. He returned to Urbana, where he was editor of the Urbana Daily Democrat and Citizen, being associated with his brother, Frank C. Gaumer. He also held editorial positions on the Zanesville Times Recorder and the Marion Star under the ownership of President Harding. For the past six years he has resided in Florida, near East Palatka, where he had purchased real estate in the rich St. Johns River valley.
