MRS RILEY GAUMER DEAD

Mrs. Riley Gaumer died at her home about a mile west of town early Sunday morning of cancer. She had been suffering from cancer for about eighteen months and during her long illness she bore her affliction with much patience and fortitude. Elizabeth Zimmer was the daughter of Valentine Zimmer and was born 19 Jun 1836 in Salem Township. In the year 1856 she was united in marriage to Riley Gaumer and from this union five sons were born. Three of them have preceded their mother to the grave. The children living are W. O. Gaumer of South Tacoma, Washington and H. C. Gaumer at home. These two sons with their father survive and mourn her departure. She is also survived by two brothers, Jacob Zimmer of Great Bend, Kansas and Henry Zimmer of Russell, Iowa and one sister Mrs. Mollie Wiles of Bluff City, Tennessee. The deceased was a good woman being a
dutiful wife and an affectionate mother. As a neighbor she was kind and obliging and had a large circle of friends who admire her for her many good traits of character. She was a member of the M. E. Church and a devoted Christian woman. Funeral services will be conducted at the New Hope Lutheran Church this forenoon by Rev. J. D. Nulton assisted by Rev. J. J. S. Rumbarger, after which the remains will be laid to rest in the New Hope Cemetery.
