CALLED HOME

Husband and Wife die Within a few Days
of Each Other

Only a few days ago a number of the relatives and friends of John Bagley were notified that he had died at his home in Zanesville April 6, 1892, and they were called upon to attend the funeral and pay their last respects to the departed one. Owing to the serious illness of the wife of the deceased it was considered proper that body should be placed in the vault to await the developments of her illness, but the time to wait was of short duration for on April 12, 1892, her eyes were closed in death and the home had been deprived of a husband and wife, father and mother within one short week.

John Bagley was born in Loudon county, Va., April 30, 1821. While young his father died and his widowed mother removed her family to this township where he grew to manhood and in 1848 was married to Miss Anna Shrigley who was born in Salem township July 31, 1821. After their marriage they lived on the Geo. Adams farm and a few years afterward removed to Adamsville and lived in the home now occupied by the family of R. H. Lowe. They then removed near Gilbert Station from which place they removed to Zanesville about seventeen years ago.

The deceased husband and wife leave six children besides a number of relatives, among whom are, Mrs. Elizabeth Shirer, a sister of Mr. Bagley, and J. O. Shrigley, a brother of Mrs. Bagley who resides in this vicinity, all of whom mourn their loss.

The funeral services took place last Thursday afternoon and were conducted by Rev. Hissey of the M. P. church, Zanesville. After the services the bodies were taken to Greenwood cemetery and laid peacefully away side by side in the grave.

Appeared in the Adamsville Register, April, 1892.
