Biography*   (From the DEEG-L Archives on Rootsweb, posted 24 Sep 2004 by Carole Schetter)

I found this yellowed 1931 clipping among some Historian's material.
Seems to be the year the Northern Ohio group went to PA. Newspaper isn't
identified but it could possibly be the Medina Gazette:

DAGUE FAMILY REUNION

The 28th annual reunion of the Dague family was held Saturday, August 29, at
the old family homestead of the late John H. Dague in North Bethlehem
Township, now owned and occupied by Mrs. Anna Dague Phillips. The day was
perfect and the setting of the event was ideal, as was attested by the very
large crowd which gathered, there being more than 400 registered guests in
attendance, 60 being present from Ohio and 40 from West Virginia. Others
came from points as far west as Illinois. Reunions in other years have all
been held in the vicinity of Spencer and Lodi, Ohio, where one branch of the
Dague family settled in 1820. Colonial records show that members of the
family lived in various colonies in pre-revolutionary war days. It was in
the year 1789 that the commonwealth of Pennsylvania gave Frederick Dague
title to the tract of land known as "High Germany" on which this reunion was
held. An entertaining and instructive program was provided in the
afternoon. Musical numbers were provided by Stuart Dague, Jr. and Jane and
Irene Day. Readings were given by Margaret Moninger, Mrs. John W. Dague and
Janet Dague. A word of welcome given by John H. Dague was responded to by
John H. Brouse, president of the organization from Elyria, O. The main
address was delivered by Dr. S. N. Dague of Houston. Carrie M. Dague of Elm
Grove, W. Va. read a history of the clan from the earliest days to the
present. A family tree was exhibited on a large board nearby, which
afforded many an opportunity to trace their relationship for the first time.
The next reunion will be held near Lodi, O., the last Saturday of August,
1932. Bert Dague of Lodi was elected president for the ensuing year.

(A followup post the same day cleared up some errors)

One error in the article is that Dague's were in the Lodi/Spencer area by
1820. The earliest ones were in Milton Township, Wayne County around
1819-20. They then settled near Penfield in Lorain County but their lives
centered a lot around Spencer, Ohio and many later lived there.

Two people who attended as young girls had the following memories: From
Janet Dague Favri: "From the 1931 reunion, I remember that we slept in a
"Murphy" bed. It was held at a farm with a beautiful big brick house on a
hillside somewhere south of Washington, PA."

From Eleanor Browand Bond: " The Dague Reunion held in O'Dell, PA in 1931
was a big event. Aaron Browand, Hazel Dague Browand, Jennie Piper Dague and
Eleanor Browand drove from Spencer, Ohio to Pennsylvania. We travelled in a
1930 Whippet that my grandfather, Charlie, had purchased shortly before his
death in 1930. I remember the mountains and the winding roads and arrived
"car sick." It was very exciting for an eight-year-old girl to make such a
journey. While we were in PA., we visited Fort Necessity, General
Braddock's monument and Scenery Hill before returning to Ohio. Carrie Dague
presented the "History and Genealogy of the Dague Familiy," which she had
devoted years in compiling and getting it ready for publication. My friends
at that reunion were Janet Dague Favri and Evelyn Weimer."
