Mary Becket

Female
b. 1593, d. 22 January 1679

Family George Soule Sr. b. 1593, d. before 22 January 1679
Child  1. George Soule Jr. b. 1639, d. 17 May 1704

Name Variation   Mary Bucket
Note*   Mary was possibly the daughter of Sylvester Beckett and Elizabeth Hill and arrived in Plymouth, Massachusetts before July 31, 1626 aboard the ship "Ann" or "Anne".

Mary Becket is said to have married Mayflower passenger George Soule prior to the 1627 cattle division (MF-3). Nothing is known about her origins in England, and her identification as George Soule's wife is based on her known presence in Plymouth in 1623, on Soule being unmarried that year, on her disappearance from the records thereafter, on Soule having a wife named Mary in the 1627 division, and on there being no other known Mary to assign as his wife.

She was one of the passengers in the "Ann" in 1621 in company with Barbara Standish, Patience and Fear Brewster.

Passenger list, ship Anne, 1623

----------------------------------------------------------------- --------- ------

The ship Anne arrived in Plymouth in July, 1623 accompanied by the Little James, bringing new settlers along with many of the wives and children that had been left behind in Leyden when the Mayflower departed in 1620. This ship passenger list is reconstructed from the 1623 Division of Land, the passenger list compiled by Charles Banks in Planters of the Commonwealth, and the research found in Eugene Aubrey Stratton's Plymouth Colony: Its History and Its People, 1620-1691. The author is a descendant of Anne passengers Ellen Newton, Mrs. Elizabeth Warren, Anna Warren, Mrs. Barbara Standish, Mary Buckett, and Francis Sprague.
