PHARMACIST T.F. MARSHALL JR. DIES AT 67

Thomas Franklin Marshall Jr., co-owner and longtime pharmacist at Marshall's Drug Store and former member of the Virginia State Board of Pharmacy, died Thursday of cancer at his home.


He was 67.


A native of Richmond, he graduated from the Medical College of Virginia School of Pharmacy in 1949.


Mr. Marshall was co-founder and former president of the original Urbanna Merchants Association.


He served for eight years on the board of Rappahannock Community College, where he was chairman. He also served two five-year terms on the Virginia State Board of Pharmacy.


He was a former trustee of the Medical College of Virginia Alumni Association, and was a member of the Chesapeake Pharmaceutical Association and the American Pharmaceutical Association.


Mr. Marshall served on the administrative board and as a trustee of Urbanna United Methodist Church. He taught Sunday school there for more than 40 years.


Survivors include his wife, Roberta Woodward Marshall; a son, Thomas Richard Marshall of Remlik; a daughter, Debra Woodward Marshall of Charlottesville; his mother, Lucy Hotinger Marshall; and a brother, Richard Earlwin Marshall, both of Urbanna.


A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Urbanna United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Hermitage Baptist Church Cemetery in Church View.


The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Marshall Endowment Fund of Urbanna, Va. 23175; or to Rappahannock General Hospital Oncology Fund, c/o Connie Deagle, P.O. Box 1449, Kilmarnock, Va. 22482.

MARSHALL, PHARMACIST, DRUG STORE CO-OWNER

Thomas Franklin Marshall Jr., 67, long-time pharmacist and co-owner with his brother of Marshall's Drug Store in Urbanna, died Thursday, Feb. 18, at his residence.


Mr. Marshall graduated from the Medical College of Virginia School of Pharmacy in Richmond in 1949. The native of Richmond had moved to Urbanna as a child. He graduated from Saluda High School, attended Hampden-Sydney College and served as an aviation cadet in the Navy.


He was a member of Urbanna United Methodist Church where he served on the administrative board and was a trustee and taught Sunday school for more than 40 years. He was a member and past master of Urbanna Masonic Lodge No. 83 and a member of Urbanna Royal Arch Chapter 59, which he had served as high priest.


Active in civic and professional organizations, he was co-founder and past president of the original Urbanna Merchants Association. He served for eight years on the original board of Rappahannock Community College and was a former board chairman.


Mr. Marshall served two five-year terms on the Virginia State Board of Pharmacy in 1968-73 and 1974-79.
He was a trustee of the Medical College of Virginia Alumni Association from 1966-69 and was a member of the Chesapeake and American Pharmaceutical Associations.


He is survived by his wife, Roberta Woodward Marshall; a son, Thomas Richard Marshall of Remlik; a daughter, Debra Woodward Marshall of Charlottesville; his mother, Lucy Hotinger Marshall; and his brother, Richard Earlwin Marshall, both of Urbanna.


Masonic memorial services will be held at 7 tonight at Bristow-Faulkner Funeral Home, Saluda, after which the family will receive friends until 8:30 p.m.


Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Urbanna United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Hermitage Baptist Church Cemetery, Church View.


Memorials may be made to the Marshall Endowment Fund of Urbanna United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 217, Urbanna 23175; or to Rappahannock General Hospital Oncology Fund, in care of Connie Deagle, P.O. Box 1449, Kilmarnock 22482.
