| News/Obit* | 7 August 2004 | Obituary, Mary Clemmer Tardy, 95, of Lexington, died Thursday, August 5, 2004 at her home. Mrs. Tardy was born on May 5, 1909 in Rockbridge County and was the daughter of the late Andrew J. Thomas and Sally Elizabeth Knick Thomas. She was a member of the Oxford Presbyterian Church, started the Home Demonstration Club at Palmer and was preceded in death by her first husband, Emmett Mowbray Clemmer; and her second husband, Emmett Tardy. Mrs. Tardy is survived by three children, Mary Emore of Lexington, Gertrude Baber of Sandstone, Helen Ruley of Lexington; two step-children; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Sunday, August 8, 2004 at the Harrison Funeral Chapel with Rev. Barton Hellmuth and Rev. Zeb Carson Williams officiating. Burial will follow in the Oxford Presbyterian Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to a charity of your choice. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory, Lexington. 2 |
