Sharon Elaine Lapp Irby, 64

INDEPENDENCE, Kan. - Sharon Elaine Lapp Irby, 64, died Thursday, Dec. 22, 2005, in Lubbock, Texas.


Sharon was born on Aug. 10, 1941, in Dresden, the daughter of Gerald Hubert Lapp and Lucile May Longaberger Lapp. She married Eldon Irby on Aug. 13, 1957, in Albuquerque, N.M. She had enjoyed genealogy for the past 25 years and had traced her own family history from Germany and England to the 1300s. She was a founder of the Preservation Society of the Muskingum Cemeteries in Ohio, the Ohio Genealogy Society, the Muskingum County Genealogy Society, was a Daughter of the American Revolution, and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Dresden. She loved gardening, animals, hummingbirds and traveling.


Survivors include her husband, Eldon of Abilene, Texas; a son, Frank Owen Irby; two daughters, Debra Lynn Wallace and Carol Anne Molina and husband Johnny, all of Lubbock; grandchildren, John Gabriel Molina, Jared Michael Molina, Emily Rellanos Irby and Joshua Alexander Irby; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Rita Ann Mooney of Lubbock.


Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today, Dec. 28, 2005, at the Webb & Rodrick Funeral Home Chapel, Independence, Kan., with burial following in the Mount Hope Cemetery.


Arrangements by Elmwood Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 5750 Highway 277 South, Abilene, Texas.


In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Hospice of the Big Country, 4601 Hartford, Abilene, TX 79605, or to The Humane Society of the United States.
