OBIT - FIRESTONE, BLANCHE DELP
FIRESTONE, Blanche Delp, 83, died Thursday, September 28, 2000 at her residence in Marion. She was the daughter of the late Cora D. Meadows and Severt Delp and was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey James Firestone; a daughter, Linda L. Firestone; and two granddaughters, Karen Firestone and Linda G. Firestone. Mrs. Firestone was a member of the Pugh Mountain Freewill Baptist Church, an avid reader, and a dedicated mother who loved and appreciated all of her children and grandchildren. Survivors include five sons, Harvey J. Firestone, Jr. of Roanoke, William S. Firestone of Marion, Robert H. Firestone of Marion, Herbert L. Firestone of Marion, Steve Firestone of Marion; five daughters, Ruth Simmerman of Windsor, Va., Loretta Sutherland of Marion, Bonnie Meadows of Marion, Brenda Umbarger of Atkins, Kay Robinson of Marion; 21 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; four brothers, Fields Meadows of Dalton, Ga., Charles Delp of Salem, Va., Thomas Delp of Salem, Va., Robert Delp of Salem, Va.; three sisters, Goldie Lilly of Besoco, W.Va., Margaret Anne Kirby of Roanoke, Jenny Loving of Goodview, Va. Funeral services will be held Sunday, October 1, at 2 p.m. in the Pugh Mountain Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Sam Slemp and Rev. Mike Sage officiating. Burial will follow in Attoway Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Barnett's Marion Funeral Home Chapel. Barnett's Marion Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
