| News/Obit* | 19 February 2000 | HATCHER, Gerald Banks, of Roanoke, passed away Thursday, February 17, 2000 after a long illness. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Navy, a member of Troutville Baptist Church and he was retired from Smith Transfer after several years of service. He was the son of the late Noah Hatcher and Gracie Jones Hatcher. He is survived by his beloved wife, L. Lorene Hatcher; one son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Ann Hatcher; two granddaughters, Leah and Whitney; one sister and brother-in-law, Myra and John Branscome of New Jersey; one brother-in-law, Ercil Rexrode; numerous special friends. A chapel service will be conducted at 5 p.m. Sunday, February 20, 2000 at Oakey's South Chapel with the Rev. Gene Arnold officiating. A private graveside service will be conducted in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Oakey's South Chapel from 4 to 5 p.m. on Sunday. Memorial donations may be made to Fellowship Baptist Church, 929 Murray Ave., SE, Roanoke, Va. 24013. 2 |
