Clifford O. Mangun, 82, died June 26, 2000, peacefully at home.

Born in Augusta Township, Ohio, on July 17, 1918, he was a retired machine designer with the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. He was active in Akron area Masonic organizations, serving as Master, in Commandery, and in other positions for over 35 years. He received the Knight York Cross of Honor. He also served as the president of the Akron Chapter of the American Society of Manufacturing Engineers and was the liaison between the Junior Engineering Technicial Society and The University of Akron and Kent State University Engineering Programs.

Preceded in death by wife, Betty Jane (DeLong) Mangun, he is survived by wife, Marie; son, William R. Mangun of Greenville, N.C.; grandchildren, Kimberly Barletta and Shaun Mangun; brother, Walter; and sisters, Mary, Eleanor and Dorothy; two stepgrandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A private memorial service was held July 2, 2000 at North Hill United Methodist Church.
