Mary Elizabeth Shirar was born in Carroll county, Indiana, March 29, 1855. She was married to George Buell at Salina, Kansas, August 20, 1874. To this union ten children were born, seven of whom with the husband live to mourn her passing. Mrs. Buell died at Grants Pass, December 20, 1928, at the age of 73 years, 8 months and 22 days. She had lived in Grants Pass for the past 20 years where she has a host of sorrowing friends and neighbors. She was a member of the daughters of Veterans and a lifelong member of the English Lutheran church. The funeral services were held Friday afternoon at Halls undertaking parlor. Rev. Chas. C. Rasick, pastor of the Newman Methodist Episcopal church, officiating.
