Frank F. Ake

Frank F. Ake, born in Akron on March 27, 1912, died Feb. 25, 2004.



He spent his entire career with Firestone Tire & Rubber Co., retiring in 1974 from a position in store and service equipment sales. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a lieutenant in the Medical Corps. He attended Western Reserve Academy and graduated from Kenyon College. He was a former member of the Portage Country Club and the Akron City Club. A longtime supporter of Stan Hywet Hall and Gardens, he served on its board, its Executive Committee, and as its president. He also served on the Board of Litchfield Rehabilitation.



He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Eleanor R. Ake. He is survived by son, John R. and wife, Nancy H. Ake, of Sanibel, Fla.; daughter, Barbara A. Brazell of Sarasota, Fla.; and son, Frank F. Ake Jr. of Henderson, Nev. He also leaves a grandson, William H. and wife, Gretchen M. Ake, of Dallas, Texas; and sister, Catherine (Sis) Bronson.



A memorial service will be held at St. Paul's Episcopal Church Chapel, Kenilworth Drive at West Market Street, at 11 a.m. SATURDAY, Feb. 28, 2004. Burial will be private. Should friends desire, remembrances may be made to Stan Hywet Hall and Gardens, 714 N. Portage Path, Akron 44303; Rockynol Retirement Community, 1150 W. Market St., Akron 44313; or to St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 1361 W. Market St., Akron
