Last of Pioneer Family

Dies at 78


Calvin H. Firestone, 78, last surviving member of the family of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Firestone, Stark County pioneers, died early this morning in his home at 1342 Cleveland ave NW following an extended illness.



For many years Mr. Firestone was postmaster at Middlebranch, the office being housed in his general store, which was in the middle of the village.



In recent years, before his retirement, he operated the original Rowland farm which was owned by his mother, the late Barbara Rowland Firestone near East Canton. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran church.



Mr. Firestone is survived by a son, Charles E. Firestone of the home, a granddaughter and a grandson.



Funeral services will be Monday at 2 p.m. in the Seesholtz Memorial in charge of Rev. C. L. Warstler. Burial will be in Northlawn cemetery. Friends may call at the Memorial after noon Sunday.

Funeral services for Calvin Firestone were held today at 2 p.m. in the Seescholtz Memorial in charge of Rev. C. L. Warstler. Burial was in Northlawn cemetery.



Mr. Firestone in recent years had been making his home with his son, Charles E. Firestone, at 1342 Cleveland ave NW. He was a retired farmer and before taking up farming was postmaster and operated the general store at Middlebranch. His death occurred Friday after an extended illness.
