Note*   Catherine may be the daughter of John Walters of Washington township. Census records show a progression of Walters there starting with John who in 1820 was enumerated in the 45+ column and does not show up in the 1830 census. On the same page are John Junior and Benjamin. Benjamin born ca 1792 in PA is around the same age as Catherine. It is possible he is her brother.

The Biographical and Historical Memoirs of Muskingum county note that John Walters came into Washington township in 1806. He is listed next to Jacob Gaumer who came in 1808 from Reading, PA. John is suggested to be from Westmoreland County, PA where in 1800 there are found four John Walters, two, a senior and a junior in Washington Twp, Westmoreland Co. This John was born 31 Mar 1758 and died 31 Mar 1829 near New Concord. His wife Katherine Hoffman, born ca 1771 in PA and died 1856 in New Concord. She is buried in Pleasant Hil cemetery there.

A World Connect record for this John includes children, Elizabeth, George, Barbara, John, Mary and Philip. Benjamin and Catherine are not included in this family but it is worth exploring in lieu of any other Walters. Since this family does not show up in Union township in 1820, it is possible they are the ones from Washington township.
