Census of Vernon County for 1847 lists her age as 16. Marriage record in Vol. l, Vernon County Courthouse. Hist. of Vernon County, page 161 shows wedding information. Stephen O. Rice and Mary E. Decker, by Rev. Daniel Parkinson, on the 23rd of Feb. 1853.

Moses will in 1860 listed her age as about 30 of Viroqua.

On Sept, 9, 1860 Sarah Nichols and Elizabeth Rice filed a motion against the will saying Moses was not of sound mind--to postpone for 30 days.

Ltr. from Almeda Decker (Isaac's dtr.) date November 26th, 1868 to her grandmother, F. M. Pond says, "we had supper here and all Uncle Sols folks were here" I believe that this may refer to Mary Rice but have not been able to locate where they lived. It is possible that they may have lived with Solomon.

Husband Stephen Own Rice witnessed Isaac Deckers will dated 31 December 1872 in Vacaville, California.

*****new since 5/10/1997 From Vic and Donna---6/10/1931 Returning from a transcontinental auto trip from Oakland, California, to the Atlantic, the grandchildren of Moses Decker were guests of Ben and Otto Brown. They were cousins of the late Mrs Charles C. Brown, Mrs Cora Rice-Allenburg, Clinton, Frank and Claude Rice. Owen Rice married Mary Elizabeth Decker, daughter of Moses and the above were their children. Clinton was born in Viroqua over 60 years ago on the corner of Court and Center Streets and moved with the family at the age of four.1
