News/Obit* 3 December 1880  Obituary,

At his residence, 2 miles south of Viola, Nov, 20, 1880 at 5 oclock in the morning, Mr Westfall Decker aged 58 years.

Deceased was born in Muskingum County, Ohio, near Warwick, (actually Norwich-pronounced Norwick) on the 10th of December, 1823. In 1834 he came to Mercer County where he resided until 1841. He then moved to Wisconsin, where he remained four years, He then returned here, where he has remained ever since.

In 1847 he married Miss Anna Maria Longley. They have been blessed with 11 children, four of whom are dead; three girls are married. He leaves a wife and three children under 15 years of age. Mr D. was known all over the county as a successful hunter, and many an old settler has ate venison that he killed. Last spring he bought out Wm. S. Dilley, and was improving the home for his old age, when he was suddenly stricken with the fell destroyer Death. He had been sick about as week with billious fever, and appeared to be getting better, but was taken suddenly with a paralysis of the heart and died almost instantly. -- He was a kind husband, an indulgent father, an honorable neighbor, and a good citizen. The sympathies of the Community are with the widow and the fatherless.
