Note   Baptism Records where Valentine and or Catherine or Hester were recorded in the New Hope Lutheran Church Records:

Eunice Shirer, born 10 Nov 1828, bap. 8 Mar 1829, parents Valentine Shirer & wife Catherine, Sponsors Muther (Mother), Pastor Samuel Kaemmerer

Valentine Willis Shirer, born 14 Nov 1830, bap. 25 Feb 1831, parents Valentine Shirer & wife Catherine, Sponsors Valentine Shirer, Pastor Samuel Kaemmerer6
Note*   Valentine was a farmer and also owned a sawmill with his brother Davy on Section 20 in Madison Twp. Valentine lived on his father's farm in section 16 and 25 in Adams township, Muskingum Co., OH. Valentine and his second wife Esther are buried in Bethesda Methodist Church cemetery which is a short distance from the family farm.

His first wife Caty, is buried in New Hope Lutheran along with his parents. It is believed the family changed faith during the time before Valentine's death, maybe because of the proximity to the Bethesda Church and Valentine's neighbors who attended it's services. Some of his children are buried in Bethesda but also in New Hope.

In 1860 there was a Sara L. 10 years old enumerated with Valentine. She did not show up in the 1850 census and does not appear to be a daughter.
Birth* 20 August 1797  Somerset Co., PA, The Shirer Profile gives the date as 1 Aug 1797 which conflicts with what is recorded on the gravestone.7
