|Family||Elizabeth Unknown b. circa 26 May 1741, d. 26 February 1829|

|Note*||John supposedly came to Somerset Co., PA. from Frederick Co., MD. sometime after 1800. There are some rent records that show a John Sharra in 1768 and a John Shir living in Frederick in 1783. There are also land records for a Johannes Shirer in Philadelphia Co., PA. in March 3, 1742, and John Shirer in York Co., Manheim Twp., PA. Whether these are the same John Shirer is yet to be determined. His name is listed as Shirer so either he or his parents changed the spelling on reaching America from the original Scheurer.|
It is possible that John had some other children possibly a daughter Susannah who married a George Ohler in Frederick, MD and another daughter Margaret Shiror whose will was witnessed by Andrew Oler. He also sold some land possibly around 1790 before he left for Somerset to the Ohlers.
See the article by Lois June Orton for other information on John.
