(32, G. 6, p. 41).
"Oct. 30, 1741, Thomas Dungan, of Northampton Township, Bucks County, Pa. deeded to Jacob and Jonathan Dungan, his grandsons, two of the sons of his son Jonathan, deceased, in consideration of 5 sh. and natural love, etc., when said Jonathan shall arrive at age of 21 years, a tract of 120 acres in Warwick Township, being part of 400 acres granted to said Thomas by Nicholas Hellings and Elizabeth, his wife, by deeds May 31 and June 1, 1734. (26. Book B, Vol. 3, No. 7, p. 24), (recorded March 26, 1743). A deed recorded in Book II, p. 600, states "which Nicholas Hellings bought at Sheriff's sale Nov. 23, 1713, as a part of the estate of James Claypole."
The will of Thomas Dungan, of Northampton Township, Bucks County, Pa., dated Feb. 9,1758, pr. July 4,1759, mentions sons: John, Thomas, Joseph and James; grandsons: Samuel, Jacob and Jonathan, sons of son Jonathan, deceased; daughters Elizabeth Hellings, Mary Barton and Sarah Stephens.
Witnesses: Nath. Dorland, Jacob Carrell, Jemima Colton and John Hart.
Issue (20‑27) Thomas, Sarah, Elizabeth, Joseph, Jonathan, James, Mary and John.
7. Jeremiah Dungan, son of Rev. Thomas and Elizabeth, b. 1673, d. Apr. 6, 1761, aged about 88 years (27). m. 1 circa 1702, Deborah Drake, b. Jan. 8, 1686/7 (49) d. circa 1721. daughter of Captain George and Mary (Oliver) Drake, and grand daughter of Rev. and Capt. Francis Drake, an early settler in Piscataway, N.J., from Exeter, N.H. (v. supra No. 6). He married secondly Mary, whose surname remains to be determined by a future investigator.
Jeremiah Dungan died intestate, and such information as has been obtained has been gleaned from wills, deeds, etc., and Morgan Edwards' account in his "History of the Baptists." As Jeremy's brothers are all accounted for, John and Clement dying unmarried, and Thomas and William having left wills, the writer has assigned others of the name as Jeremiah's children, which, in most cases, have been ratified.
