384. Samuel Jones , was born about 1727 in Glamorganshire, Wales and died on 6 Nov 1783 in New Hanover Tp, Pemberton, NJ, about age 56.

General Notes: Information received from Mrs Lawrence Emery in 1985: Samuel Jones b. in Glamorganshire, Wales in 1727. In 1740 he took a vessel to America but the ship was captured by the Spaniards. He was taken to Cadiz, Spain but eventually was permitted to leave for Philadelphia, PA. He entered the employ of a Mr. Newbold and on 1 June 1750 m ABIGAIL ROGERS daughter of WILLIAM ROGERS who was one of Mr. NEWBOLD'S tenants. He removed to Great Swamps, PA then to Juliustown, NJ and in 1760 to New Mills, now called Pemberton. NJ. He died in Pemberton 6 Nov 1783. Probably a close relative of Dr. Samuel Jones who visited him often. May have served in Revolution. Also note: Lettice Newbold married a John Woolston Jr. and in 1786 Samuel Jones b 1762 married an Elizabeth Woolston.

Grandson Samuel Seroggy, son of my daughter, Anne SEROGGY, the other 1/2 of said lot, but my son-in-law Thomas SEROGGY and my daughter Anne, shall have the use of the same during their lives. Daughter, Abi- gail Jones, F50. Son Samuel, a bed. Executors, wife, Abigail, and sons Abraham and Samuel. Witnesses Job Rogers, John Goldy, Henry Chambers. General Notes: HUDSON MIDDLETON 1766 Sept 5 Will of Hudson Middleton of Chester twp Burlington Co. NJ. Yeoman. My son Nathaniel, that part of my plantation which was purchased of Richard Satterthwaite from the estate of Joshua Wright, he paying to his sister Christian, f50 when she is 18. Son Thomas, plantation where I live, when 21, he payijg to his two sisters, viz. Sarah and Rachel, f50 each. Daughter Mary Middleton, f50. To my two youngest daughters, Sarah and Rachael, apparel which was their mothers. Executors, my brother, John and my brother in law Nathan Haines. Witnessess, Abraham Heulings, John Cox, Samuel Sorency. Proved Jan 23 1768. It is also worthy to note that in this will Hudson gave his Negro woman Sue her liberty to work for herself. She was to pay his son Nathanial 20 shillings per year to be put away for her old age. Unusual in that time period.

General Notes: In 1775 Farquier Co., VA William was noted as a Baptist according to the VA Historical magazine p.300. On Nov 17, 1776 William was in the hospital according to a list of hospitalized troops. From the Archives (undated) William was enrolled for three years service.
