Place: Memorial Park - Pavilion #4 Taneytown, MD Date: Saturday, August 18, 2001 Starting Time: 12:00 noon |
Everyone is welcome to show up at the park as early as they want and
stay as long as they like.
(The official hours of the park are from 8 a.m. until 10 p.m.)
We have Pavilion #4 rented so don't worry about too much sun or rain!
What to bring:
- Picnic supplies for your family (food, non-alcoholic drinks, and utensils). Feel free to bring some extra food from a favorite family recipe to share with others.
- Old family Bibles, photos, letters, memorabilia, stories, etc.
- Swimsuits, outdoor game equipment (softball gloves, frisbees, volleyball, etc.)
Tentative schedule:
- 12:00 noon - The unofficial start time. Meeting old/new cousins, viewing (and/or making additions or corrections) to the big family tree, and making a name tag for yourself will start things off.
- 12:30 - Let the feasting begin... most of us should be hungry from looking at what everyone else brought.
- 1:00 - The semi-official reunion:
- Introductions - everyone will get the opportunity to introduce themselves (or family depending on the turnout) and share a brief family story or tell about a photo or other family item they brought.
- Prizes for: the youngest and oldest attendees, the most and least distance traveled, Caspar Myers look alike contest (provided somebody comes up with a photo of him), and others.
- A group photo and then...
- Other possible activities include:
- More food, drink, talk, and generally having a good time.
- Swimming
- Softball, volleyball, or other games
- Cemetery tour(s) - Taneytown, Emmitsburg, and others perhaps.
Please let me know if there's anything else you would like to see
at the reunion. If anyone is interested in attending please have
them send me an email
(preferred), call, or send a note in the regular mail so we can start to
track the number of people and get them on the mailing list. If it
is easier for you to send me the addresses, I will be happy to contact
them directly.
Even if you can not make it to the reunion, please take a look at the links above (web site or PDF file) that have all the information that I know of regarding Caspar’s descendants. If any of the information you see needs updating please let me know.
