The Petition of Nancy Coffin, widow of John Coffin, 13 Nov 1855
To Othniel S. Williams, Surrogate of the County of Oneida:
The petition of Nancy Coffin of the town of Deerfield in the County of Oneida represents, that your petitioner is widow of John Coffin, late of the town of Deerfield in said county of Oneida, deceased, that the said John Coffin died at the town of Deerfield in said county of Oneida, on or about the thirtieth day of September last past, intestate, leaving no will and testament, to the knowledge and belief of the petitioner; and at and immediately preceeding his death, he was an inhabitant and resident of the said county of Oneida; and that all and singular the goods, chattels, and credits of the said deceased, do not according to the best knowledge of your petitioner, exceed the sum of one thousand dollars; that he died intestate, and left him surviving six children.
That in the opinion of your petitioner it is necessary that administration of all and singular the goods, chattels, and credits of the said deceased should be granted to some proper person; and that your petitioner therefore prays that such proceedings may be had, that administration of such goods, chattles, and credits may be granted to your petitioner this friend Daniel Walker.
