Books and Papers concerning the Coffin Family

Coffin Family Books - Susan Pine-Coffin has written three interesting books related to the history of the Coffin family in the UK. The books are:

  • The Coffin Letters - Letters to and from members of the Coffin Family in England between 1600's and 2002.
  • The Coffin Diary - Diary of John Edward Coffin from his days in South Africa with the Mounted Infantry in the Boer War 1900.
  • A Tale of Two Bridges - Based on the Diaries kept by Colonel R.G.Pine-Coffin DSO MC which he kept throughout the 1939-45 War in Europe.

Sister and Me - Interesting autobiographical account of the life of Gertrude Ola Broughton Greeley Parcells Stonesifer, granddaughter of Emeline Darby (Coffin) Daniels, part of the pioneer Coffin family that settled in the Longmont area of Colorado. Gertrude Stonesifer became an author of children's books at age 87, having 5 books published before her death at age 97.

Reminiscences of Levi Coffin, the Reputed President of the Underground Railroad - 732 page on-line book concerning the life of Levi Coffin (1798-1877), Slavery, and the Underground Railroad. Excellent resource provided by the University of North Carolina.
