COFFIN, Ina May: Ina May Coffin was born abt. 1882. When she was about
23 she lived in Little Falls, Herkimer county, NY. On 19 May 1905 she married
Sidney M. Van ALLEN. They both were from Little Falls, but were married at the
Herkimer Baptist Church. I'm looking for anything about Ina May Coffin. That
marriage lasted about two years and I'd like to know if there were any children
from this union. In December 1907 Sidney Van Allen married my grandmother. No
one in my family knew about this marriage until I started my genealogy research
in the spring of 1996. The 1905 NYS census shows them residing in Little Falls,
and Sidney was a Little Falls fireman. Paul Van Allen. New Hartford, NY.

"And now I want to call a partial roll of those men whose lives were put to this great educational enterprise. These names, which I have selected from the memoranda left among the papers of Dr. Mather, do not represent all of the trustees who held office between 1811, the first date shown, and 1853, the last one. I am giving merely the names of those which were household words in and about Fairfield when I was a boy:

In 1929, Harry Coffin and his wife Nellie Coffin purchased the Shepard lands and ran a farm at this location with one boundary listed as bordering on the south by lands of William D. Hildreth. Harry Coffin and his wife Nellie operated this farm for many years until Nellie passed away in the late 1960's, at which time this parcel was sold to the Hladyzs family, allowing for an expansion of their dairy business. It was at that time that some portions of what used to be the Farmer/Hildreth lands were rejoined again as connecting properties by the Hladysz family.

Back at Kast Bridge area, the train continued past the former Brown tavern on the left of the crossroad. It travelled on through farmlands, some of which were owned over the years by the Hoffstetters, VanVechtens, Hladysz, the Osbourne family who came from Massachusetts in 1850's, the Farmer family arriving from Massachusetts in the late 1700's, and Peter Smith in the 1840 time frame. Other owners of some of these farms were names such as Shepherd, Hildreth and Coffin. On the border line of the town of Herkimer is the town of Newport, with the Schrader farm just on the other side of the dividing line.
