Obituary of Ira W. Coffin, Deerfield, Oneida, New York

Utica Observer Dispatch, p. 4A, Tuesday, 25 Aug 1953

Ira W. Coffin, 68, died unexpectedly in his home in the town of Deerfield, Aug 24, 1953. Dr. Arthur S. Coriale, coroner, said death was due to coronary occlusion.

He was born Aug 12, 1885, in the town of Deerfield, which he served as highway superintendent for six years. He operated a farm.

He was the son of Henry and Ann Coffin. He married Jennie Hughes in Utica in 1905.

Besides his wife, he leaves two sons, Reginald, Ilion, and Randolph, Poland; three brothers, Morton, Duane, and Archie, all of Utica; three sisters, Mrs. Norma Johnson, Utica; Mrs. Edward McCluskey and Mrs. Lucy Holden, both of Newport; five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday from his home with the Rev. Frank Smith officiating. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Poland.
