In August 2002 I found an article entitled "The Murder of Charles Hendrickson Null" in the Fayette County Texas website that mentioned who I thought to be my great grandfather, Thomas W. Burge. The story spelled the surname "Birge". I emailed a gentleman whom I communicate with about Burge genealogy. He promptly emailed me back with the information that another story had appeared in the June 1980 edition of True West magazine about this same incident. I was able to buy a copy of this magazine on Ebay. When I recieved it and read it...it confirmed that the "Tom Birge" mentioned in the Fayette County Texas website was indeed my great grandfather, Thomas Wilson Burge.

I emailed the True West magazine for their permission to use this article on my website and it was given.

The identifying factor in this story was that we know that Thomas W. Burge's wife, Fannie Emmaline Baker Burge, was killed in China Springs in a wagon accident in 1911. There is statement made that he was from Travis County Texas. We don't believe this to be true. He grew up in Fayette County Texas and before that was in Lavaca County Texas. This story also says that he is buried in Gainesville, Texas. This is not true either.....Thomas Wilson Burge is buried in Albany Texas.
