WEBB family history.
The earliest I have been able to find my WEBB line is 1824
in Stewart County. David Webb is charged with horse stealing and enters a plea of
at the court house in Dover, Tennessee.
September 1842, George Webb b. 1760, Queen Anne Co. Maryland, estate sold. David Graig is the executor of the estate. Stewart County, Tennessee. George is father of David.
In 1849, Humphrys County Tennessee. They lived on Walnut Branch of White Oak Creek. David Webb sells to James R. Braings "a portion of an entry made by the said D. Webb and granted unto him by the state, grant # 19566."
The 1850 census for Humphreys County lists David Webb, age 46, his wife, Jane and five children; Martha, Anderson, Levi and Thomas. There is a Rebecca Miller living with them. Another son, George is listed on the census with his wife, Betsy (Elizabeth), and a son, James. David's place of birth is listed as NC. His estimated birth date, from the census, would be 1804. The son, George is of my line.
The 1860 census has David, his wife Jane and one daughter, Martha. The rest have moved on. George is on the census but is listed under his middle name, Morgan. His wife is listed as Elizabeth, and James is now 11 years old. Joining the family are; Westley, age 9; Jane, age 8; David, age 6; Matilda, age 4 and Lucinda, age 2.
In 1863 David Webb buys, for one hundred dollars, buys two
hundred acres from Wm Moss. This land lies on Walnut Branch of White Oak Creek,
Humphreys County, TN.
(Deed book Q-S, Jul 1866-Jan 1871)
By the 1870 census, James T. has come back home to live with David, now 65. Jane is listed as Davids wife and Martha A. now 38 is still living at home. George M. is now 39 and listed with Elizabeth A., his wife; Anderson Westley, Martha J., David H., my line, Matilda C., Mary E., Georgia A., Susan E. and Fredonia C., as children.
The 1880 census for Humphreys County only lists James, as J. T., he is 31. He has Martha, 56 living with him. Martha is James Aunt, she is the daughter of David and Jane. He also has a cousin, Oliver, 14, living with him. Oliver is the son of Freedonia. It appears that David and Jane have passed away.
On 17 March 1884, George Morgan Webb and wife Betsy Ann (Elizabeth) Webb sell to (their son) Jas. T. Webb, one fourth interest in the land on Walnut Branch of White Oak Creek. (Deed book #3 1885-1886, p. 271/272)

George in the household of David H., is listed as 8
months old and is my great grandfather, George Morgan Webb. G.M. marries Florence
Elizabeth Devasier, of Forrest City, AR, and they are next found on the 1920 census for
Obion Co. TN. George is 40 and listed with Florence, 34, Clarence, 11, Willie,10,
Robert, 8, Jake,2, and Marie,2.
Willie, is William Thomas Webb, my grandfather.
The 1900 census shows James T. Webb, 50, as a widower. He has two daughters living with him, Mary E. and Georgia A., also listed is Elizabeth, 68 (his mother) and Georgia A., F, 37 (his sister). I assume that George M., b. 1829 has passed away.
The last time that James T. Webb is found on the census is 1910. He is 65 and living with his brother in law Miler Smith in Humphreys County, Tennessee.
David H. Webb is found on the 1900 census in Humphreys County, Tennessee. He is 41 and living with his wife Mary "Sarah", 49. His children at home are George M., 20; John T., 18; and Havil L., 15.
David H. is last found in the 1910 census at age 52. He is living with his son Harvil Webb, 24. I assume Mary "Sarah" has passed away.
In 1905 George Morgan marries Florence Devasier in Humphreys County, Tennessee.
The 1910 census shows George Morgan and Florence in Humphreys County with two children, Clarence, 4 and William 2. William is my grandfather.
