A CAMP INSTITUTED   Modern Woodmen of America Are Now Represented at Whitehall  C. J. French Camp, Modern Woodmen of America was instituted at Whitehall  Wednesday night with 31 charter members.  The order starts off there in splendid  shape.  Twenty-six members of the Muskegon camp drove up in the evening, going to a  carryall drawn by two teams and in two other horse rigs.  The party started at 6:30 p.m.  and arrived at 9:30.  Arrived at Whitehall the new camp was instituted, the local team  of foresters, the crack team of Western Michigan, having charge of the initiation.   Afterward there was a banquet at the G.A.R. hall, to which about 75 persons sat down.  The woodmen started on the return trip at one o’clock and arrived here at 4:30 this  morning.  Along the way they enlivened matters with the M.W.A. yell.  Those who made  up the party were:   Bert Stuit, H. A. Bauchnecht, John Leatherman, J. A. Snyder, Albert Bush, Henry  Harnan, V. B. Eckenrede, W. W. Richards, Edward Oakley, Jacob Wagner, C. M.  Duncan, W. C. Stewart, George Tart, C. B. Stuart, A. FORMER MUSKEGON MAN ILL WITH TYPHOID FEVER  John Wagner, son of Mr. and Mrs. G. Wagner, 188 Pine  street, has been ill with typhoid fever in St. Luke’s hospital, Chicago, for about three weeks.  Yesterday, his parents  received word that he was getting along nicely and that the fever had nearly left him.  On Wednesday, a letter was  received from the physician who is attending Mr. Wagner stating that his condition is very favorable.

Muskegon Chronicle, Muskegon, MI Monday, June 14, 1943, page 11

Mrs. Marie Wagner, 82 years old, 924 Howden street, Muskegon Heights, died Sunday in Hackley Hospital following an  illness of 18 months.  She was born in France, coming to the United States in 1881. She settled in Medfort, Wis.  Mrs.  Wagner came to Muskegon Heights in 1921.  She was married to Charles Wagner in Medford, Wis., May 10, 1883.  He  died June 11, 1938.  She was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran church of Muskegon Heights.  She is survived by four  sons, Ernest and Herbert of Wisconsin, Albert Wagner of Muskegon Heights and Walter Wagner of Champlin, Minn.; three  daughters, Mrs. H.C. Batzer of Rib Lake, Wis., Mrs. John Meyer, Muskegon Heights, and Mrs. Orin Brigham of Madison,  Wis.; 22 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

WAGNER - Services for Mrs. Marie Wagner, 924 Howden street, Muskegon Heights, will be held Tuesday afternoon at 4  o'clock from the Lee Funeral Home, Rev. Charles hanson officiating.  She will be laid to rest in Mona View.
