Muskegon   Brandon Michael Miles Cavanaugh, died at birth on Tuesday, January 26, 1999. He was the son of Devin M. Cavanaugh & Tonia S. Miles. CAVANAUGH, MISS  FLORENCE MARY  Muskegon, MI  Florence Mary Cavanaugh, 86, passed away Sunday.  She had been a communicant of St. Mary’s.  She was preceded in death by her brothers, Robert A. and Edward L. Cavanaugh.  She is survived by five nieces and one nephew.  Miss Cavanaugh was laid to rest at Egelston Twp. Cemetery on Feb. 27, 1996.

Muskegon Chronicle  Muskegon, Michigan  30 July 1957  J. E. Cavanaugh,  Prosecutor’s  Father, Dies  John Edward Cavanaugh, 498 E. Agard road, Dalton Township, died today at Mercy Hospital at 81.  He was the father of Muskegon Prosecutor Robert A. Cavanaugh.  Mr. Cavanaugh was stricken Sunday.  He was taken to the hospital where he died about 3 a.m.  Mr. Cavanaugh was born at Detroit, Jan. 10, 1876, but had lived in Muskegon County more than half a century.  He came here in 1901, living in Muskegon until 1948 when he moved to Dalton.  He married Miss Rose Burns here Feb. 23, 1903.  Mrs. Cavanaugh died in 1947 on the 44th anniversary of their marriage.  Mr. Cavanaugh spent many years as an employe of local foundries.  His last employment was aboard the S. S. Maitland which operated out of Muskegon as an auto carrier across Lake Michigan several years ago.  He was a communicant member of St. Mary’s Church.  In addition to his son, Robert, Mr. Cavanaugh is survived by another son, Edward L. of Dalton; a daughter, Miss Florence Cavanaugh, of Muskegon, and five grandchildren.

CAVANAUGH, MRS. KATHRYN H., 5719 Michillinda Rd., Whitehall, Mich.  Mrs. Cavanaugh, age 60, died at her home Tuesday afternoon.  She was born in Fruitland Township and has lived all her life in that area.  She was employed as a finisher for the Howmet Misco Division for 17 years until retirement.  She was a member of the White Lake Eagles.  The former Kathryn Mahoney, married William Cavanaugh, he died in Feb. 1965.  SURVIVORS:  2 sons, William and Robert, both of Whitehall; 2 daughters, Mrs. Terry (Colleen) Mikkelson of Montague, Mrs. James (Karen) Blamer of Whitehall.  11 grandchildren; 3 brothers, Pat of Whitehall, Richard of Grand Haven, Elmer of Wolf Lake; 3 sisters, Mrs. Jane Vincent of Montague, Margaret Mahoney, San Antonio, Texas, MRs. Patricia Wade of Whitehall.  SERVICE:  Friday afternoon at 2 o’clock from the Clock Chapel Whitehall with the Rev. Lorne Ruhl officiating.  Interment will be made in Fruitland Township Cemetery.  VISITATION:  Friends may call at the Funeral Home in Whitehall beginning this evening after 7 o’clock.  —Clock White Lake

CAVANAUGH, MRS.  MAXINE A.  Muskegon   

Mrs. Maxine A. Cavanaugh, age 84, died Sunday, July 28, 2002.  She was born in  Muskegon, MI on June 5, 1918 to John W. & Ruth V. (Renick) Robinson.  Mrs.  Cavanaugh was a graduate of Central Michigan University & received her Masters  Degree from Michigan State.  She had been a 4th & 5th grade teacher at Bunker & a  reading specialist for Muskegon Public Schools for 18 years until retiring in 1988.  Mrs.  Cavanaugh worked for the US Treasury Department in N.Y.C. during WWII.  She was a  volunteer at Muskegon Area Aids Resource Services & Board of Salvation Army & other  various community service organizations.   SURVIVORS  Daughter, Mary (Jack, Jr.)  Byers of Fruitport; 3 grandchildren, Kelly (Richard) Johnson of Grand Haven, Jack  (Sheri) Byers III of Fruitport & Sean (Yuka) Cavanaugh Byers of Tokyo, Japan; 8 great  grandchildren, Erica, Cory, Tyler, Ciara, Gabriel, Alexis, Kiaya & Abigail; 1 brother, Dr.  Harry Robinson of Grand Haven.   SERVICE  Wednesday, July 31, 2002, 12:00 PM at  the Clock Chapel with Fr. Muskegon Chronicle  Muskegon, Michigan  CAVANAUGH, JUDGE (RET.)  ROBERT A.  Muskegon  Judge (Ret.) Robert A. Cavanaugh, age 85, died Sunday, April 2, 1989 at Mercy Hospital.  Born Nov. 30, 1903 in Muskegon, he was the son of John Edward and Rose Anna Cavanaugh, graduated from Muskegon High School in 1923 and Marquette University Law School in 1937.  He was a World War II Veteran having served as Army Captain.  Mr. Cavanaugh held 6 terms (11 years) as Prosecuting Attorney, elected in 1948.  He was appointed Probate Judge by Gov. G. M. Williams in 1959 and served 15 years, retiring April 4, 1975.  He married Audrey K. Plumley on Sept. 17, 1966 in Newaygo County.  He was Past President of Muskegon County Bar Assn. and Past President of MI Assn. of Prosecuting Attorneys.  He was a member of Knights of Columbus, National Exchange Club, Catholic War Veterans, American Legion, State Bar of Michigan, Muskegon County Bar Assn., American Bar Assn., Irish American Society, Probate Judges Emeriti, Inc., Democratic Party-Muskegon County (active member), Active with Muskegon Assn. for Retarded Citizens, Muskegon Heritage Assn., and Muskegon County Museum.  Mr. Cavanaugh is survived by his wife, Audrey; daughter Mary Kathleen (Jack) Byers; brother, Edward (Beverly) Cavanaugh; sister, Florence Cavanaugh; 2 step-daughters, Janice (Jerrold) Meyers and Darlene (Ronald) Hegedus; step-son, Michael L. (Myrna) Plumley; 13 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren; mother-in-law, Kathryn E. Petersen; sister-in-law, Leora (Andy) Anderson all of Muskegon.

FUNERAL MASS:  Wednesday 11:00 a.m. at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, Fr. Louis R. Stasker, Celebrant.  Interment in St. Mary’s Cemetery.  SCRIPTURE SERVICE:  Tuesday 7:00 p.m. at the Young Funeral Home.  VISITATION:  Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.  MEMORIAL:  Alzheimer’s Disease & Related Disorders Assn., Muskegon Affiliate and SHALOM (a residential home for Alzheimer’s and Dementia) of Muskegon Mental Health Services of Muskegon County.  –Young

CAVANAUGH RITES.  WHITEHALL – The funeral for William E. Cavanaugh, 51, of 5719 Michillinda Road, Whitehall, who died Tuesday at Muskegon Osteopathic Hospital, will be 2 p.m. Friday at Gee Funeral Home, here.  Burial will be at Speed Cemetery, Fruitland Township.  Mr. Cavanaugh had been a patient at the hospital since Jan. 12.  Born Feb. 26, 1913, in Ft. Dodge, Ia., he was employed at Fitzjohn Motor Coach Co. of Muskegon for 15 years.  He was a caretaker at White Lake Golf Course for the past four years.  Mr. Cavanaugh was married to the former Catherine Mahoney Jan. 21, 1939, in Whitehall.  He leaves his widow; two sons, William of Whitehall and Robert E. of Ft. Sill, Okla.; two daughters, Colleen and Karen, both at home; two grandchildren; and four sisters, Mrs. Wilma Frizzell and Mrs. Larata Haire, both of Cambridge, Iowa, Mrs. Lucy Smith of Burlington, Iowa, and Mrs. Leona Johnson of Ames, Iowa.
