MRS. JAMES CARDEN   CALLED BY DEATH   Mrs. James Carden, 28 years old, 309 E. Sherman St., Muskegon  Heights, died today at Mercy hospital, after a brief illness.  She was born July 3, 1900 in Laketon township where  she grew to womanhood.  She was married to James Carden in 1919.  Mrs. Carden is survived by her husband, two  daughters, the Misses Nora May and Myrtle Luckeria, and one son, James Jr., all at home; her parents, Mr. and  Mrs. Charles Vincent Peterson of Laketon township; two sisters, Mrs. Charles A. Olson of Laketon township and  Florence Amelia Peterson at home; two brothers, Charles Stanley and Ivan Edwin Peterson, both of Muskegon.

CARDEN–The funeral service for Mrs. James Carden will be held 2:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon at the Balbirnie  Funeral Church, Rev. F. A. Hatch officiating and interment will be in Laketon Cemetery.

JAMES (JOE)  831 Dangl Rd.  Mr. James (Joe) Carden, age 79 years, passed away this morning at Muskegon General Hospital.  He was born June 10, 1899 in Russell Co., Alabama and has resided in the Muskegon area since 1919.  He was married to the former Charlotte L. Nelson on April 20, 1940 at Bryan, Ohio and previously had been married to Ivy Myrtle Peterson and she passed away in Nov. of 1928 and then was married to Lila Belle Martin and she passed away in April of 1936.  He had been employed at the Clover Foundry until his retirement in 1957.  He was a member of Wolf Lake Baptist Church.  He is survived by his wife, Charlotte, his children, Mrs. Arthur G. Porter, Mrs. Myrtle Lo McIlrath, James Donald Carden, Robert Wayne Carden, Mrs. Thomas Martin, all of Muskegon, Kay Louise Coats of Grand Haven, 19 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren, 1 brother, Jeff D. Carden of Cullman, Ala., 1 sister, Mrs. Cleo Sallas of Attalla, Ala.  Services will be held at 3 P.M. Friday from the Sytsema Chapel with Pastor Charles W. Stark officiating.  Interment will be in Laketon Twp. Cemetery.  Friends may call at the funeral home beginning at 7 P.M. this evening.  Sytsema

Muskegon Chronicle  Muskegon, Michigan  7 April 1936  Page 2  MRS. JAMES J. CARDEN  Mrs. James J. Carden, 28 years old, of 1172 Spring street, died Monday at Hackley Hospital, after an illness of one week.  She was born in Watson Jan. 31, 1908.  The last 11 years she made her home in Muskegon, coming here from Petoskey, where she resided for eight years.  Her maiden name was Lila Bell Martin.  She was married to James J. Carden, June 15, 1929, in  Indiana.  She had been employed at the Norge corporation.  Mrs. Carden attended the Calvary Baptist church.  Surviving are her husband; two sons, Robert Wayne and James Donald; two daughters, Nora and Myrtle Lucia, at home; her parents, Mrs. And Mrs. Fred Martin, of Ravenna; eight brothers, Harry and Fred Martin, of Ionia, Gerald and Harlan Martin, of Detroit, Lester and Alva Martin, of Ravenna and Vernon and Ivan Martin, both of Muskegon; two sisters, Miss Luella Martin, of Ravenna and Mrs. Kenneth Neff, of Muskegon.

8 April 1936  Page 14  CARDEN – Funeral services for Mrs. James J. Carden, 1172 Spring St., will be held at 2 p. m. Thursday at the Clock Funeral Home, Rev. Jacob Huizenga officiating.  Interment at Laketon cemetery.  Friends may view the remains at the Clock Funeral Home.

Muskegon Chronicle  Muskegon, Michigan  3 January 1993  Page 10D   CARDEN, MR.  ROBERT W.  Wyoming, MI  Mr. Carden, age 63, died Wed., Dec. 30, 1992, in Grand Rapids.  He was born in Muskegon on Oct. 23, 1929 and married Janice Stubbs in Niles, MI on Oct. 6, 1973.  Until his retirement in 1990 he had been employed for 10 years at Stowe-Davis Co.  Mr. Carden was an Air Force veteran, president of the Air Force Sergeant’s Association Chapter No. 772 and an avid Civil War buff.  SURVIVORS  Wife, Janice; 2 sons, James & wife Mellisa and Timothy both of Muskegon; 2 daughters, Susan Moore of Muskegon and Mrs. Emily (Bernard) Lory of Whitehall; 4 grandchildren, Elizabeth & Sarah Carden and Amanda & Jenelle Moore all of Muskegon; 4 sisters, Mrs. Toni (Arthur) Porter & Mickie McIlrath both of Muskegon, Mrs. JoAnn (Thomas) Martin of AZ & Mrs. Kay (Larry) Johnson of FL; 1 brother, Donald & wife Dorothy Carden of Muskegon; step-mother, Mrs. Charlotte Carden of FL; father-in-law, Wallace Stubbs of Niles, MI and several nieces & nephews.

SERVICE  Monday, Jan. 4, 1993 at 1 p.m. at the Clock Chapel with Rev Gerald M. Ferguson.  Reception following at the Clock Family Center.  Interment at Laketon Township Cemetery.  VISITATION  Today 2-4 & 7-9 at the Clock Funeral Home.  MEMORIAL:  Michigan Heart Association.  Clock  Muskegon
