Helen S. BARNARD,
born at Chittenden, Vermont; daughter of Fred and Mary (BISHOP) BARNARD.
Fred BARNARD,
born in Vermont, August 13, 1866. He
was a farmer. He died October 28,
1935. His wife, Mary (BISHOP) BARNARD, was born at
Pittsfield, Vermont, and now resides at Pittsford, Vermont.
Helen S. BARNARD,
graduated at the University of Vermont, Ph. B., 1919; entered the University of
Michigan in 1922, and graduated, M.D., in 1926; graduate student, Children’s
Memorial Hospital (Chicago, Illinois), specializing in pediatrics; interned at
Hackley Hospital, Muskegon, Michigan, 1926-1927. She began the practice of medicine, in the fall of 1927, in
Muskegon, Michigan, where she has since remained. She serves on the staffs of the Hackley and Mercy Hospitals. Dr. BARNARD
is a Republican, and a member of the following: American Medical Association; Michigan
State Medical Society; Muskegon Medical Society; Business and Professional
Women’s Club; Citizens Historical Association (Indianapolis, Indiana); and the
Methodist Church. Her hobby is
traveling.
