The first picnic was held around 1920 at the home of Uncle Charlie Murrow near Dacoma.
We could find no formal records before 1934, but in 1934 it was decided to send a card each year to the head of each family stating the time and place of the reunion.
1936 76 cents was spent for postal cards.
1938 expenses were $1.43 collected was $2.83.
1939 all especially enjoyed the talks given by C. H. Murrow, D. L. Murrow, and Nicholas Murrow of Des Moines, IA. Also Ray and John Murrow of Topeka, KS, who were with us for the first time. After the business meeting 153 of the 194 present went thru the Alabaster Caverns which every[one] seemed to enjoy.
1940 was the largest reunion at Hatfield Park in Alva with 232 relatives and 40 friends. 5 states were represented, CA, TX, NE, KS, and OK.
1943 due to the ration of gas many were unable to attend.
1945 a marker was purchased for Grandpa James Riley Murrow's grave. A collection of $42.38 was received. The marked was purchased for $39.78 and was at the grave site the following Memorial Day.
1946 the members enjoyed talks by the Murrows of IA.
1947 Luther Murrow chaired the entertainment committee.
1949 200 cards were sent for $2.00.
1951 5 Murrows from Blue Mound, KS attended.
1952 Music was furnished during the day by Jim Murrow & his Gyp Hill Cowhands of Freedom.
1962 The reunion was held at Waynoka in the Co-op basement due to stormy weather.
1968 The reunion became available for an overnight stay in the Little Sahara State Park and was held there many times.
1975 Lute Murrow made the motion to have the next meeting in an air conditioned building in Alva.
1976 Members were entertained by Dean and Franklin Murrow.
1977 Group pictures were taken by Leslie McDermott.
1992 Jan Willson computerized the mailing list.
