[TEN PHOTOS ARE LOADING -- PLEASE WAIT!]

Greetings, cousins;

You are here by inviation - please pass the URL to others you think may be interested or may be able to share complete names, dates, and circumstances about these photos. Information on the back of each picture is copied here and was provided by a son of Sarah Catherine Proffitt Riggs, who was first in possession of the photos. They are on loan to me for scanning and copying.

Also - if you have scans of old photos you want to place here for similar help (with names, etc.), send them to me via email (to rodmurrow @ gmail .com) and I'll place them on a page similar to this one.

PLEASE NOTE: these photos are scanned in jpg format and have been reduced for this page, which is probably inadequate for making decent prints from; if you want copies of the scans in a higher resolution, let me know and I will send them to you. Presently, they are NOT restored in any way, though I am in the early stages of learning photo restoration (PhotoShop has a very steep learning curve, so it will NOT be any time soon before I know how to do this in a fashion I think is acceptable). If you want to have a go at restoration yourself, let me know and I'll send the original .tif scan to you via email.

Photo 1: marked "Albert Proffitt" - I assume it to be a wedding photo, perhaps?

Photo 2: marked "Aunt Nanie and Uncle Charlie Mitchell" - I believe that she was called "Aunt Nannie" by her nephews and nieces - she is a daughter of John Mark Proffitt and Barbara Ellen Smith (and sister of my great-grandmother, Sarah Catherine Proffitt Riggs).

Photo 3: marked "Sarah Riggs's half-sister (Cory) Brown" - this would be Cora Proffitt Brown, daughter of John Mark Proffitt and his second wife Abigail Browning. I may have her husband's name in my database, but am not sure at this point how much information I have on either of them.

Photo 4: marked simply: E.D. Lipp, RFD #1, Box 9, Raymond, Kansas." I assume that E.D. Lipp may be the father of this child? That his name was on the photo because it was being sent to him (not a postcard photo, however, but his name/address is on a piece of paper that has been glued onto the back of the cardboard photo mount).

Photo 5: marked "John Proffitt's 2nd Boy."

Photo6: marked "John Proffitt's girl Mame."

Photo 7: marked "John Proffitt's Daughters."

Photo 8: marked "Lum Proffitt Family."

Photo 9: marked "Mrs. Tena Ford."

Photo 10: marked "Will Proffitt and Wife."
