The Seyler's gravestones are marked simply "Susie 1861-1942" and W.E. 1858-1946." In the same lot are two additional graves: Bernard H. Seyler 1886-1931 and his wife Clara (Edwards) Seyler 1892-1985. Grandma Seyler's first name has been spelled both "Susie" and "Suzie" in the family, and nobody seems to know which spelling is correct.

Bernard "Ben" was shot to death on the Avard road near highway 14. I have located a newspaper account of the incident, which was officially termed a suicide, though family members were never convinced that Ben took his own life. Many still believe the case is an unsolved murder. I will post the newspaper account to this website soon.
