Henry Clay Dean Murrow, son of James Riley and Kiturah Murrow, was born April 5, 1863, in Powsheik [sic] county, Iowa; and departed this life March 19, 1939 at his home in Alva, Okla., at the age of 75 years, 11 months and 15 days. He was the youngest in a family of eight children and the last one of the family to leave this life.
He spent his early childhood in Iowa, and with his parents came to Stafford county, Kansas.
He was united in marriage on November 23, 1888, to Mary Cathryn Dix [sic]. To this union were born seven children, two of whom have preceded him in death.
He leaved to survive his going his devoted sife, Mrs. Molly Murrow; four sons, Lionel, of Avard; Clay and Frank, of Alva; Luther of Dacoma; one daughter, Mrs. Walter Bergesen [sic], of Capron; 15 grandchildren, and four great grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends.
He came to Oklahoma at the opening of the Cherokee Strip and settled on a claim 4 miles southwest of Dacoma, moving to Alva about 12 years ago.
He was a kind and loving husband and father generous to his family in every way. His friends were numbered by his acquaintenances [sic], and their loss was his gain.
He was stricken with paralysis over a year ago, and since that time has been in failing health.
About a year ago he was converted to the Lord at his home, and while at times he was discouraged because of his affliction yet a few days before his death he expressed anew to the members of his family that he was ready to go.
Mr. Murrow was of a kindly disposition, and hospitable to all. And while he was not a Christian man his home was always open to the ministers of the gospel.
Jesus said, "He that giveth a cup of cold water in my name, verily I say unto you, he shall not lose his reward."
