Rev. Gideon Tibbetts Ridlon, Sr.

History of the Families of Millingas and Millanges of Saxony and Normandy Comprising Genealogies and Biographies of Their Posterity Surnamed Milliken , Millikin , Millikan , Millican , Milligan , Mulliken, A.D. 800 - A.D. 1907 was published by Rev. Gideon Tibbetts Ridlon, Sr. at Lewiston, Maine in 1907. This 800+ page book contains a wealth of information that was compiled by Rev. Ridlon through correspondence with prior generations of our respective families during the latter part of the 19th century. Several Libraries across the US have copies of this work in their reference section, however many folks have expressed an interest in obtaining their own copy.

There are a few out-of-print book stores who offer such copies. Higginson Book Co in Salem MA sells a hardbound photocopy of the original listed at $100.00 US. Quintin Publications in Pawtucket RI sells a CD version for $60.95 US. The CD requires that your computer has Adobe Acrobat installed in order to read the PDF format. Shipping/Handling charges and additional information may be obtained at the vendors' websites.

The Ridlon database is a RootsWeb WorldConnect site where a complete extract of all families in the Ridlon book is posted. It is fully indexed and searchable. Many researchers and family members have submitted updates and corrections which have been applied to the database subsequent to the book's publication.

A full text version of the Ridlon book is available online in various formats. Also available here

Although it is an excellent foundation upon which to build further research, acceptance of the whole as fact is not advisable. Each family historian should seek documentation to verify what appears in print.

An Open Letter from Rev. G. T. Ridlon concerning the publication of his book is also of interest.
