Our entire collection has been catalogued and entered into a database. This can be searched on the computer in the genealogy room or if you prefer there is a printed version of the catalogue you can consult.

CDRoms

Our growing collection includes :- Australian Births, Deaths and Marriages Post Office Directories Cemetery Transcriptions Convict Databases Vital Records Indexes Various English Census Records

Microfiche and Microfilm

Items are too numerous to list but they include all Australian States Births, Deaths & Marriage records, sections of the Archives Resource Kit, various convict and immigration records, IGI, 1881 British Census. The collection also includes the Local Newspapers from 1856 on Microfilm.

Books and other Printed Materia

Most of these items are available for loan to members unless marked “Not for Loan”. Major topics covered by the collection are:- General History

Magazines

We exchange a number of magazines with other family history research groups. These are available for loan and are indexed, with an email newsletter being sent to members to keep them up-to-date on what is in the latest publications.

Family History Library Microfilm Service

As authorised agents for the Genealogy Film Library of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints we have access to its library of over 20 million rolls of world-wide microfilmed records.

These films can be hired through the MDHS at a cost of $8 for use in our Research Room for a period of 5 weeks.
