A trust fund to finance the maintenance of historic Mount Carmel Cemetery in West Blocton has been established with a goal of raising $50,000.  In recent years donations have decreased for the upkeep of the cemetery. A trust fund is needed. from which only the interest is used every year to preserve the cemetery.

According to Ed Perry of the Mount Carmel Cemetery Committee it costs over $3,600 a year just to cut the grass over the cemetery’s nine and a half acres four times a year and annual fund raising barely covers that cost which leaves nothing to maintain the roads or repair historic grave markers.  A trust fund will ensure the future upkeep of the cemetery.  We owe this to the loved ones we have buried there.”

Members of the Mt. Carmel Cemetery Committee are Charles Adams, Charles Allen, Wayne Callahan, Debbie McCool Cobern, Vic Deerman, Marty Everse, Libby Fitts, Randal Goggins, Pat Linton, Minnie Lucas, Ed Perry, Jonette McCool Ross, and Charlotte Wooten.
