[169]
Fredrick grew up in an Anglican (Church of England) family in rural
Northern Ireland. He served in the Eniskillen Fussileers, British Army in
the Boer War. His favorite memory was getting to see Queen Victoria. He
went to Canada to work in the wheat fields, and ended up in Winnipeg,
Manitoba. After his marriage, he and his wife moved to Detroit to work for
$5 a day at the Ford plant. He latter worked for the Detroit streetcar
system, and in the mail Dept. of a large bank in downtown Detroit.
