Killed in France Argonne Forest during WWI. He was buried in France, and a
memorial marker was erected in the Leonardson Cemetery, Jefferson Twp.,
Hillsdale Co., Michigan at the family plot. George was killed exactly three
weeks before the Armistice of Nov. 11, 1918 brought the war to an end.

Enlisted Nov. 20, 1861, Ransom, MI in Battery G, 1st Michigan Artillary.
Promoted to Corp. Injured May 19, 1863 in Vicksburg MS operations. Discharged
Jan. 28, 1865 at Jackson, MI. Returned to Ransom Twp. after the war and
farmed the homestead at the corner of what today (1999) is M-99 and Burt .
