Enlisted Co. A, 102nd Ohio Infantry on 19 Aug 1862 for term of 3 years.
Captured at Athens, Alabama 24 Sep 1864. Was held at Andersonville, Goergia.
Was coming home on the steamship Sultana when it blew up 22 Apr 1865, just
north of Memphis, TN. Wesly's account of that was recorded in Chester
Berry's "Loss of the Sultana, and Reminiscences of Survivors" (1892).
In Nov 1865, Wesly purchased land in Daviess Co., Missouri.
