This is the last Will and Testament of me William Webb of Bearsted in the County of Kent Gentleman. First I will and direct that all my just debts Legacies Funeral and Testamentary expenses shall be fully paid and satisfied by my executors hereinafter named from and out of my personal estate. Also I give and devise unto my son Richard Webb all that piece or parcel of land containing by estimation Four acres or thereabouts or the same more or less situate lying and being in Bearsted aforesaid behind the messuage or tenement in the occupation of Mr Hodsoll Sale now or late in the tenure or occupation of Mrs Elizabeth Russell to hold the same with the appurtenances unto and to the use of my said son Richard Webb his heirs or assigns for ever.

Also I give devise and bequeath unto my son Jesse Webb all and every my messuages or tenements farms lands hereditaments and Real Estate whatsoever and wheresoever and of what nature or kindsoever (not hereinbefore by me divised or desposed of ) and also all and every my Leasehold estate of every sort and kind and of whomsoever holden (except my Mill with the appurtenances thereto belonging situate lying and being at Harrietsham in the said County of Kent) and all my estate term and interest therein respectively to hold the same with their every of their rights members and appurtenances (except as aforesaid) unto my said son Jesse Webb his heirs executors administrators and assigns to and for his or their own use and benefit (subject nevertheless to the direction hereinafter contained that my dear wife Jane Webb shall have the use and occupation of my messuage or tenement in Church Lane Bearsted now in the occupation of Mr Thomas Goldridge with the appurtenances during her life in certain cases in manner hereinafter mentioned.

Also I give and bequeath unto my said wife Jane Webb one full undivided moiety or half part (the whole into two equal parts to be divided) of all my household goods Beds and bedding Plate Linen China Earthen and Glass ware and other household furniture which shall be in or about my dwelling house at the time of my decease to hold the same unto and to the use of my said wife and her assigns for and during the term of her natural life and the other moiety or half part thereof I give and bequeath unto my said son Jesse Webb his executors administrators and assigns absolutely and it is my will and mind that my said wife and son Jesse Webb do and shall live and continue together in the dwelling house wherein I now reside free and clear of and from all charges and expenses whatsoever to my said wife But in case my said son Jesse Webb shall during the life of my said wife happen to marry or if shall be inconvenient or disagreeable to them my said wife and my said son Jesse Webb to reside and live together then and in either of the said cases I do direct that my said wife shall have the use and occupation of my messuage or tenement situate in Church Lane Bearsted and now in the occupation of Mr Thomas Goldridge parcel of my real estate hereinbefore devised with all and singular the appurtenances thereunto belonging for and during the term of her natural life free and clear of and from all rent and taxes whatsoever and being found and provided with sufficient wood and coal for firing during the said term by my said son Jesse Webb his heirs executors or administrators whom I do hereby direct to pay all taxes which shall be payable in respect of the said last mentioned premises during my said wife's life and also during that time to keep the same premises in good and sufficient repair and from and immediately after the decease of my said wife I give and bequeath the said moiety of the said household goods and furniture plate linen china and effects so given and bequeathed to her for her life as aforesaid unto my said son Jesse his executors administrators and assigns absolutely.

And I do hereby nominate constitute and appoint my said wife Jane Webb my said son Jesse Webb and my said son Richard Webb executors of this my will.

And I do direct that they my said executors and the survivors and survivor of them and the executors and administrators of such survivor do and shall stand possessed of and interested in all such capital stock of bank five pounds per cent annuities as shall be standing in my name in the books of the Governor and Company of the Bank of England at my decease upon and for the trusts Ends Intents and purposes and under and subject to the powers provisions and directions hereinafter mentioned expressed and directed of - concerning (the same (that is to say) as to for and concerning the sum of Five Hundred Pounds Capital Stock part of the said Bank Annuities upon trust to pay to or otherwise permit and suffer authorise and empower my said wife Jane Webb and her assigns to have receive and take the dividends interest and annual proceeds thereof for her and their own use and benefit for and during the term of her natural life and from and immediately after the decease of my said wife upon trust that they my said executors and the survivors and survivor of them and the executors and administrators of such survivor do and shall pay assign or transfer the said sum of five hundred pounds stock Bank annuities unto and equally between my nine children, William Webb of Harrietsham in the said County of Kent Miller, Francis Webb of Shorne in the said County Miller, the said Richard Webb, the said Jesse Webb, Sarah the wife of Robert Pattenden of Boxley in the said county Butcher, Jane the wife of Thomas Baldock of Chatham in the said county Miller, Ann the wife of George Greene of Stockbury in the said county Farmer, Elizabeth the wife of Robert Foreman of Wateringbury in the said county Farmer, Charlotte the wife of William Pack of the City of London Gentleman (the part and share of the said Charlotte the wife of the said William Pack to be paid assigned or transferred to her as follows (that is to say) one half part thereof within six calendar months and the other half part thereof within eighteen calendar months after the decease of my said wife) and my granddaughter Mildred Pack the daughter of the said William and Charlotte Pack or such of them my said children and granddaughter as shall be then living and the issue lawfully begotten or to be begotten of any of them who shall be then dead to whom I give and bequeath the same such issue standing in the place of his or her deceased parent and taking the part or share which he or she if living would have been entitled to therein.

And as to for and concerning the sum of Two Hundred Pounds Capital Stock other part of the said Bank Annuities upon Trust that they my said executors and the survivors and survivor of them or the executors or administrators of such survivor do and shall pay or otherwise permit and suffer authorise and empower my dear Mother Mary Webb of Chatham aforesaid Widow or her assigns to have receive and take the same for her and their own use and benefit for and during the term of her natural life and from and immediately after her decease do and shall pay transfer and assign the sum of One Hundred Pounds Stock part of the said sum of two hundred pounds Stock Five pounds per cent Bank Annuities unto my said son William Webb his executors administrators or assigns absolutely to whom I give and bequeath the same and as to for and concerning the sum of One Hundred Pounds Stock Five per cent Bank Annuities residue of the said Two hundred pounds Stock Five per cent Bank Annuities I do hereby direct that they my said executors and the survivors and survivor of them and the executors and administrators of such survivor do and shall stand possessed thereof upon trust to pay the interest dividends and annual proceed thereof unto my said daughter Jane Baldock or her assigns or permit and suffer her or them to have receive and take the same to her and their own use and benefit for and during the term of her natural life and from and after her decease then upon trust to pay transfer and assign the said last mentioned sum of one hundred pounds stock five per cent bank annuities unto and equally between all and every the children if more than one of my said daughter Jane Baldock lawfully begotten or to be begotten who shall live to attain the age of twenty one years and if only one such child then to such only child to and for their his or her absolute use and benefit to be paid assigned or transferred to them on their severally attaining the age of twenty one years the interest thereof in the mean time to be paid applied and disposed of in for and towards their maintenance education and benefit.

And as to for and concerning the sum of one hundred pounds capital Stock further part of the said Bank annuities on trust that they my said executors and the survivors and survivor of them and the executors and administrators of such survivor do and shall within six calendar months next after my decease pay assign and transfer the same unto the said Thomas Baldock his executors administrators or assigns absolutely.

And as to for and concerning the sum of Three Hundred and Fifty Pounds Capital Stock further part of the said Bank Annutities upon Trust that they my said executors and the survivors and survivor of them and the executors and administrators of such survivor do and shall within six calendar months next after my decease pay assign and transfer the same unto my said daughter Sarah Pattenden her executors administrators or assigns absolutely.

And as to for and concerning the sum of One Hundred Pounds Capital Stock further part of the said Bank Annutities upon Trust that they my said executors and the survivors and survivor of them and the executors and administrators of such survivor do and shall pay the interest dividends and annual proceed thereof unto my said daughter Charlotte the wife of the said William Pack or her assigns or permit and suffer her or them to have receive and take the same for her or their own sole separate personal and peculiar use and benefit during her life not to be subject to the debts or contoul of her said husband and her receipts alone to be a sufficient discharge to my said executors and the survivors and survivor of them and the executors and administrators of such survivor for the same and from and after her decease then upon trust that they my said executors and the survivors and survivor of them and the executors and administrators of such survivor do and shall pay assign or transfer the said last mentioned sum of one hundred pounds stock five pounds per cent bank annutities unto and equally between all and every the children lawfully begotten or to be begotten (if more than one) of my said daughter Charlotte Pack who shall live to attain the age of twenty one years and if only one such child then to such only child to and for their his or her absolute use and benefit to be paid assigned or transferred to them on their severally attaining the age of twenty one years the interest thereof in the mean time to be paid applied and disposed of for and towards their maintenance education and benefit provided always that in case their shall not be any child of the body of my said daughter Charlotte Pack lawfully begotten or to be begotten who shall live to attain the age of twenty one years my will and mind is that they my said executors and the survivors and survivor of them and the executors and administrators of such survivor shall stand and be possessed of and interested in the said last mentioned sum of one hundred pounds stock five pounds per cent bank annuities in trust for such person or persons and in such parts shares and proportions and in such sort manner and form and subject to with and under such powers provisions and conditions restrictions and limitations as my said daughter Charlotte Pack whether covet or sole deed notwithstanding her present or any future coveture at any time or times by any deed or deeds writing or writings to be by her sealed and delivered in the presence of and attested by two or more credible witnesses or by her last will and testament in writing or any writing purporting to be her last will and testament to be by her signed and published in the presence of and to be attested by the like number of witnesses shall declare direct and appoint and in default of such declaration direction limitation or appointment and as to so much and all such parts thereof whereof no such direction limitation or appointment shall be made in trust for the next of kin of her my said daughter Charlotte Pack according to the statute for the distribution of intestators estates.

Also I give and bequeath the sum of Fifty Pounds stock part of said Five pounds per cent Bank Annuities unto my said son William Webb, One Hundred and Fifty Pounds stock other part thereof to my said son Francis Webb, Three Hundred Pounds stock other part thereof to my said son Richard Webb, One Hundred Pounds stock other part thereof to my said daughter Ann the wife of the said George Green and Fifty Pounds stock other part thereof to my said daughter Elizabeth the wife of the said Robert Foreman and direct the same the same several last mentioned sums of Fifty pounds, one hundred and fifty pounds, three hundred pounds, one hundred pounds and fifty pounds stock to be transferred accordingly immediately after my decease.

And as to for and concerning Fifty pounds stock other part of the said Bank Annuities I give and bequeath the same to my said daughter Charlotte the wife of the said William Pack to be paid or transferred to her in the following manner and proportions (to wit) Twenty pounds stock part thereof at the expiration of six calendar months next after my decease, Ten pounds stock other part thereof at the expiration of eighteen calendar months next after my decease, Ten pounds stock other part thereof at the expiration of two years next after my decease and Ten pounds stock the remainder thereof at the expiration of three years next after my decease.

Also I give and bequeath to my said wife Fifty Pounds of lawful money of Great Britain to and for her own use to be paid within six calendar months next after my decease.

Also I give and bequeath unto my Granddaughter the said Mildred the daughter of the said William and Charlotte Pack the sum of Ten Pounds of lawful money of Great Britain for the purpose of putting her out apprentice.

Also I give and bequeath unto my said son William Webb all that my Mill with the outhouses premises and appurtenances thereunto belonging and therewith used (which I hold and rent under and by virtue of a Lease thereof to me granted) and all my estate term and interest thereein To hold the same with the rights members and appurtenances thereunto belonging unto my said son William Webb his executors administrators and assigns for all the residue and remainder of the term of years thereof granted and unexpired (subject nevertheless to the covenants and agreements therein expressed and I do hereby declare that the said sum of one hundred pounds five pound per cent Bank Annuities and the said Mill and premises hereinbefore respectively bequeathed to my said son William Webb as aforesaid shall be taken and considered by him to be in full payment satisfaction and discharge of the debt which he my said son William Webb hath paid for and on account of my said son in law William Pack.

And I do hereby direct and it is my will and mind that for the space of sixty years next after my decease on every Old Christmas Day in each year Twenty one Sixpenny Loaves shall be distributed among Twenty one poor persons of the said parish of Bearsted by my said executors or the survivors or survivor of them or the executors or administrators of such survivor and that they do provide and secure a sufficient Fund to answer that purpose.

And as to for and concerning all the rest residue and remainder of my Bank Annuities and all the rest residue and remainder of my Goods chattels effects monies securities for money and other personal estate whatsoever and wheresoeverand of what nature or kindsoever not hereinbefore by me given and disposed of I give and bequeath the same unto my said son Jesse Webb his executors administrators and assigns to and for his and their own absolute use and benefit.

And my will is that they my said executors and trustees or any of them their or any of their executors or administrators shall be chargeable only for their respective acts receipts neglects and defaults in the execution of the aforesaid Trusts and shall be at liberty to deduct and retain their respective costs charges and expenses to be occasioned by means of the said Trusts and in relation thereto by and out of the monies which shall come to their respective hands by virtue of and under this my will.

And I do hereby revoke all former wills by me made and declare this only to be my last will and testament In witness whereof I the said William Webb the testator have to this my last will and testament contained in seven sheets to each sheet thereof set my hand and to this last sheet affixed my seal this nineteenth day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety eight __Will Webb __ Signed sealed published and declared by the said William Webb the testator as and for his last will and testament in the presence of us who in his presence at his request and in the presence of each other have hereunto subcribed our names as witnesses the several interlineations having been first made __Cha. THIS IS A CODICIL to and to be taken as part of the last will and testament of me William Webb of Bearsted in the County of Kent Gentleman which said will bears date on or about the nineteenth day of July now last past whereas I have in and by my said will given and bequeathed (amongst other bequests therein particularly mentioned) unto or in trust for my daughter Charlotte Pack the wife of William Pack of the City of London Gentleman several lagacies and sums of money therein particularly specified and payable as therein mentioned Now I do hereby revoke annul and make void all the legacies and bequests given and bequeathed by my said will unto or in trust for my said daughter Charlotte Pack or her said husband William Pack absolutely and for ever.

And I do hereby in lieu and stead thereof give and bequeath as follows (that is to say I give and bequeath unto my dear wife Jane Webb my son Richard Webb and my son Jesse Webb (my executors and trustees in my said will named) the sum of Ninety pounds capital stock part of the capital stock of Bank Five pounds per centum Annuities as shall be standing in my name in the books of the Govenor and Company of the Bank of England at my decease and also from and immediately after the decease of my said wife I give and bequeath unto them my said trustees and the survivor of them and the executors and administrators of such survivor the further sum of Fifty pounds stock five pounds per centum Bank Annuities (being one tenth part or share of the sum of Five Hundred pounds the stock by my said will given and bequeathed in trust for my said wife for her life as therein mentioned)upon trust that they my said executors and the survivors and survivor of them and the executors and administrators of such survivor do and shall stand possessed thereof and pay the dividends interest and annual proceed which shall arise therefrom (when and as the same shall become due unto my said daughter Charlotte Pack or her assigns or permit and suffer her or them to have receive and take the same for her or their own sole separate personal and peculiar use and benefit during her life not to be subject to the debts or control of her said husband in any wise and her receipts alone to be a sufficient discharge to my said executors and the survivors and survivor of them and the executors and administrators of such survivor for the same and from and after her decease then upon trust that they my said executors and the survivors and survivor of them and the executors and administrators of such survivor do and shall pay assign or transfer the said sum of Ninety pounds stock and also the said sum of Fifty pounds stock (being such tenth part and share of the said sum of five hundred pounds stock to which she my said daughter Charlotte Pack will become entitled on the decease of my said wife as aforesaid) unto and equally between all and every the children lawfully begotten and to be begotten (if more than one) of my said daughter Charlotte Pack who shall live to attain the age of twenty one years and if only one such child then to such only child to and for their his or her absolute use and benefit to be paid assigned or transferred to them on their severally attaining the age of twenty one years the interest thereof in the meantime to be paid applied and disposed of for and towards their maintenance education and benefit provided always that in the case there shall not be any child of the body of my said daughter Charlotte Pack lawfully begotten or to be begotten who shall live to attain the age of twenty one years then my will and mind is that they my said executors and the survivors and survivor of them and the executors and administrators of such survivor shall stand and be possessed of and interested in the whole of the said five pounds per centum Bank Annuities in trust for such person or persons and in such parts share and proportions manner and form and subject to with and under such powers provisions conditions limitations and restrictions as my said daughter Charlotte Pack whether covert or sole and notwithstanding her present or any future coverture at any time or times by any deed or deeds writing or writings to be by her sealed and delivered in the presence of and attested by two or more credible witnesses or by her last will and testament in writing or any writing purporting to be her last will and testament to be by her signed and published in the presence of and to be attested by the like number of witnesses shall declare direct and appoint and in default of such declaration direction limitation or appointment and as to so much and all such parts thereof whereof no such direction limitation or appointment shall be made in trust for the next of kin of her my said daughter Charlotte Pack according to the statute for the distribution of intestators estates.

Also I give and bequeath unto the said William Pack and Charlotte Pack the sum of Ten Pounds of lawful money of Great Britain which I direct shall be paid within three months after my decease.

Also I do hereby direct my son William Webb of Harrietsham in the said County of Kent Miller to pay unto my granchildren William Baldock ( the son of my son in law Thomas Baldock) and George Pack (the son of my said daughter Charlotte Pack) the sum of Ten pounds each of lawful money of Great Britain out of the moneys to be by him received by virtue of my said will for the purpose of putting them out apprentices at their respective ages of fourteen years.

And lastly I do hereby in all other parts and respects whatsoever ratify and confirm my said will. In witness whereof I the said William Webb the testator have to this codicil to my last will and testament (contained in two sheets of paper) to the first sheet thereof set my hand and to this last sheet set my hand and affixed my seal this twelth day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety eight __Will. Webb __ Signed sealed published and declared by the said William Webb the testator as and for a codicil to and to be taken as part of his last will and testament in the presence of us who in his presence at his request and in the presence of each other have hereunto subcribed our names as witnesses (the erazure in the ninth line of the first sheet being first made and written upon ) __Cha. This will was proved at London with a codicil the ninth day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety nine before the Right Honorable Sir William Wynne Knight Doctor of Laws Master keeper or commissary of the Prerogative Court of Canterbury lawfully constituted by the oaths of Jane Webb widow the Relict of the deceased Jesse Webb and Richard Webb the sons also of the said deceased and executors named in the will to whom administration was granted of all and singular the goods chattels and credits of the said deceased having been first sworn by commission duly to administer.

Note in margin: On the 21st day of August 1826 Admon (with the will annexed) of the goods chattels and credits of William Webb the Elder late of Bearsted in the County of Kent decd. left unadd. by Jane Webb widow the Relict and Jesse Webb and Richard Webb the sons of the deceased the executors named in the said will all since decd. was granted to Jesse Webb the nephew and sole executor of the will of the said Jesse Webb decd. whilst living one of the executors and the residuary legatee named in the said will having been first sworn duly to admr.. - The said Richard Webb survived the said Jane Webb and Jesse Webb and died intestate.
