Will of Robert Town

This is the last Will and Testament of me Robert Town late of Dartford but now of Down in the County of Kent widower. First I order that all my just debts my funeral expences and other needful expences relating to my concerns shall be paid with all convenient speed by my Executors hereinafter named

Then I give my two messuages with all appurtenances thereunto belonging situate in Spital Street in the Town of Dartford in Kent equally between my four nephews namely Thomas Town the natural son of my late sister Mary, Richard Town son of Richard Town and grandson of my late brother William Town, John Weller and James Watkin Weller the sons of my late sister Elizabeth to have and to hold the same share and share alike absolute to them their heirs & assigns for ever

I give to my two Executors hereinafter appointed five pounds each over and above all just costs and expences which they may be put to in the execution of this my last Will & Testament
when all the residue of my money effects and estate of every kind whatsoever and wheresoever I give to be equally divided share and share alike between the following eight persons namely Thomas Baker of Oxted in Surrey who married my niece Ann Mills the daughter of my late sister Ann, Mary Monk of Dartford my daughter in law, Luke Norman of Crayford who married the daughter of Sarah Monk my late daughter in law and wife of John Harvey, Ann Austin Weller Elizabeth Weller and Mary Weller the three daughters of my late sister Elizabeth, John Bigginton who married my niece Elizabeth Allingham the daughter of my sister Mary and William Bird of Froghole in Chevening Kent

And I direct and empower my Executors to sell my three per cent Consolidated Annuities in the Bank of England for the purpose of dividing the money arising therefrom between the above named eight persons equally as above bequeathed

And I hereby appoint the above named John Weller and also Richard Bird the son of the above named William Bird to be my Executors to this my last Will and Testament And I direct that they shall pay the above legacies within six calendar months next after my decease

Signed and sealed for my last Will and Testament this thirtieth day of September one thousand eight hundred and twenty three Robt Town – Signed & sealed by the testator Robert Town for his last Will and Testament this 30th September 1823 in the presence of us who at his request in his presence and in the presence of each other have signed our names as witnesses thereto

Proved at London 27th February 1826 before the worshipful Charles Coote Doctor of Laws & Surr’e by the oaths of John Weller the nephew & Richard Bird the Executors to whom admon was granted being first sworn duly to adm’r.
