In the name of God Amen I Samuel Somes of the parish of Northbourne in the county of Kent Yeoman being in health and of sound memory praised be to God for the same, yet considering the uncertainty of this Life do make and declare this my last Will and Testament in manner following First I recommend my souls unto almighty God my Maker and my Body to the earth from whence it is and as for my worldly Estate I give and bequeath the same as followeth that is to say

I give and bequeath unto my Son Thomas Somes the Sum of twenty pounds of lawfull money to be paid to him when he attains the age of one and twenty years
to my Daughter Mary the sum of ten pounds of like money to be paid to her when she attains the age of of twenty two years or at her day of Marriage which shall first happen

To my daughter Sarah the Wife of Thomas Hudson? Yeoman the Sum ffive pounds of like money to be paid to her within twelve months after my decease by my Executors at such Times and in such proportions as they shall think fit for her sole and separate use and her Receipt shall be a sufficient Discharge to them for same

Also I give to my Son Samuel Somes and my Daughter Elizabeth Twelve pounds a piece of lawfull money of Great Brittain

and I give and devise to my son Richard Somes of Little Mongeham in the said County Yeoman one annuity or yearly Rent charge of ffifty Shillings by the year during his natural life payable at the ffeast of St Michael the Archangel in every year to be issuing out of all the Lands & Tenements and real Estate whatsoever free of all Taxes and charges whatsoever the ffirst payment thereof to be made on the ffeast Day of St Michael the archangel which shall first and next happen after my Wife's decease

all all the Rest of my Goods chattels and personal Estate whatsoever and wheresoever I Give and bequeath unto my wellbeloved Wife Ann Somes her Executors administrators and assigns also I give to my said Wife Anne all the Rents Issues and proffits of my Messuages Lands Tenements and real Estate ** unto my son Henry Somes of Little Hougham aforesaid and his assigns and his assigns** for and during the Term of his natural life and from and after his Decease of my said Grandson (Son)** Henry I give and devise the same Lands Tenements and real estate unto my grandson John Somes, son of the said Henry Somes and to his heirs and assigns forever

Also my Will is that my Son Henry Somes shall pay of the Mortgage money charged on the said Estate and the said Legacies of Twenty pounds to his Brother Thomas and the said Legacy of Ten pounds to his Sister Mary and for the payment of which I hereby make liable my said real estate and in Default of payment thereof I impower the said Thomas and Mary to distrain for the said respective sums upon all or any part of my said Messuages Lands and real Estate until they are fully paid satisfied the same and all charges for the doing thereof

and also in Default of payment of the said annuity or yearly Rent charge of ffifty shillings to my said Son Richard Somes I impower him to distrain for the same upon all or any part of my said Messuages Lands and real Estate and receive and retain to his use the Rents and proffits thereof until his said annuity and all arrears thereof and all charges concerning the same shall all be fully satisfied and paid unto him

and I make ordain and appoint my said Wife Anne and my said Son Henry Somes joynt Executors of this my Will and revoking all former Wills by me made I do make and declare this only for my true and last Will and Testament contained in the precedent and this present sheets of written paper In Witness whereof I the said Samuel Somes have to each sheet of this my will sett my hand and seal the fourth day of April in the year of our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred and Thirty Six and in the Ninth year of the Reign of King George the second over Great Brittain and so forth Samuel Somes Signed sealed published and declared by the said Samuel Somes the Testator for and as his last Will and Testament on the day of the Date hereof in the presence of us who have subscribed our Names as Witnesses in his presence and at his Request
