Will of Robert Skeers

In the name of God Amen the Sixteenth day of August one thousand seven hundred and ninety eight I Robert Skeers of the parish of Appledore in the county of Kent Gent. being sickly and weakly in body but sound mind and memory Do make this my last Will and Testament and at the same time Utterly revoking all former Wills made by me declaring this and this only to be my last Will and Testament

First I Give and bequeath to my Son Robert Skeers and His Heirs and Assigns for ever Three Acres of Meadow Land more or less which I now Occupy laying in the Parishes of Brenzett and Brookland in the County of Kent And all its Appurtenances thereunto the Boundary of the said Land is as follows the North and East parts join to Brookland Street the South part to a piece of Land now in the Occupation of Thomas Apps of Brookland and the East part to a piece of Land now in the Occupation of William Knight of Tenterden in Kent
Also I Give and Bequeath to my Son Robert Skeers and his Heirs and Assigns for ever All the household Goods and ffurniture which he has and keeps for his use and uses now in the house wherein he now dwelleth Also two Chests now standing and being in the house wherein I now dwell One Chest with drawers at the bottom of it now standing within the Parlour Chamber and the other Chest without Drawers now standing in the Kitchen Chamber
I Also Give and Bequeath to my Son Robert Skeers and his Heirs and Assigns for ever two hundred pounds of Sterling Money now in the hands of Jerimiah Curties Attorney at Law living and being in the Town of Rye in the County of Sussex
Also I Give and Bequeath to my Son Robert Skeers and his Heirs and Assigns for ever the Lease on and for the land called the Masakle Land which I now Occupy, freely to have and to hold and occupy during the said Lease and to be in free and full possession thereof at my Death which Land being and Laying in the Parishes of Brookland Snargate and ffairfield in the County of Kent and also to have an Hundred Ewe Sheep and thirty Wether sheep and twenty Barren Sheep and an Hundred Lambs more or less to have all in full possession at my Death

Also I give and Bequeath to my Daughter Elizabeth Skeers But being now the Wife of William Haywood of the Parish of Brookland in the County of Kent and her Heirs and Assigns for ever the sum of Eight Hundred Pounds of Sterling Money Four of the said Hundred are now in the hands of John Scoone of the Parish of Brookland in the County of Kent and two of the said Hundred are in the hands of the aforesaid Jerimiah Curteis Attorney at Law now living in the Town of Rye in the County of Sussex and the other two Hundred are with hands of Parish of Brookland in the County of Kent All the aforementioned Sums are to be enjoyed and possessed by my said Daughter being the Heir thereof within Six Months after my Death
Also I Give and Bequeath to my Daughter Elizabeth Skeers being now the wife of the aforesaid William Hayward her Heirs and Assigns of ever All my Household Goods and furniture Except the above mentioned Chests one standing in the Parlour Chamber and the other in the Kitchen Chamber Also my will is that my Linen and silver plate and Cash which I still have at my Death in my house And likewise the wood and the coals if there is any I say that the said Linen Plate cash and fueling shall be equally divided between my said Son Robert Skeers and William Hayward and each to have an equal Share alike

Also I give and bequeath to my Son in Law the said William Haywood and his Heirs and Assigns the Sum of ffifty pounds of Sterling Money which sum now in the hands of the Parish of Brookland in the County of Kent
Also I give and bequest my son in law the said William Haywood his Heirs and Assigns the Mortgage that I have now on Brungers house in the Town of Lydd in the County of Kent

Also my will is this that when Elizabeth Philips the Daughter of my son Robert Skeers doth come of Age or that my Son in Law William Hayward doth no longer continue to pay to and for the support of the said Elizabeth Philips I say then and at that time that when nothing more is to be paid then the Said Sum of Fifty pounds that are now in the hands of the Parish of Brookland and likewise the Sum of the Mortgage on Brungers House in Lydd in Kent are to be equally divided between my Son Robert Skeers and my Son in Law William Hayward each an equal part of the said Sums
Also my Will is the aforesaid William Hayward my Son in Law and his Heirs and Assigns shall have the keeping of a Cow at or on the Premises of the said Masskle Land from the date hereof to May the twelve One Thousand seven hundred and ninety nine

Also I Give and Bequeath to my present Housekeeper Namely Jane Nye and her Heirs and Assigns for ever the Sum of Ten Pounds of Sterling Money / on Condition / namely that if the said Jane Nye Abideth and liveth with me as a Housekeeper until my Death which Sum then is to be paid to the said Jane Nye her Heirs and Assigns at or within Six Months of my Death by my Executors

At the same time I do Nominate Ordain and Appoint that my said Son Robert Skeers and Likewise my Daughter Elizabeth Skeers being now the wife of the said William Hayward to be my joint whole and sole Executors to this my last Will and Testament At the same time I appoint that the said Executors to have the Ordering of the Business of my Burial and likewise to pay the Ex pence of my said Burial And Also to pay my Just Debts And after that all my Debts are paid and also the Legacy to the said Jane Nye my will is that the Executors are to pay each an equal Share and Share alike of the said Disbursements and then the said Executors when all is paid and settled then shall they freely enjoy possess and occupy all according to all the aforementioned Statements of this my last will and Testament to which I have hereunto set my hand and seal this Eighteenth day of August in the Year of our Lord One thousand seven hundred and ninety eight - Robert Skeers ( ) Signed sealed Published and declared in the Presence of us,
