In the name of God, Amen. I Richard Rochester of the parish of Harrietsham in the county of Kent, husbandman, being sick and weak in body but of perfect and sound mind and memory, blessed be God the maker and ordainer this my last will and testament in manner and form as follows. .......I commit my soul to my Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ hoping that by his mercy will receive it forever and as to my body, my will and desire is that it may be decently buried at the discretion of my executors. As for my worth and the goods and chattels which it has pleased almighty God to bless me with, I give and bequeath as followeth:

....I give all my ........ of a ........ and land lying in Harrietsham West Street to my loving wife Anne Rochester and sister Mary Rochester to be equally divided between them that is my said wife and sister and that after the death of my said wife the house and land to be full an wholly to belong to my sister, Mary and her heirs for ever, if she shall have any and then my will is that is my sister shall dye without heirs that my house and lands shall return to Richard Hugh the son of James Hugh and his heirs for ever if my said wife shall marry again that she shall have no part of my use and lands but it shall all return to my sister Mary directly. If the said Richard Hugh shall dye without heirs then my house and lands to go to the family of John .......and I give all my movables to my said wife and sister to ....of to pay my debts and funeral charges and after the paying of my debts what is left to be equally divided of between them and to make my wife and sister sole executors of this my last will beside my hand the mark of Richard Rochester, signed sealed published and declared in the presence of
Elizabeth Fletcher, the marke of Eliz Welard, Alix Bottle.
