IN THE NAME OF GOD AMEN I Stephen Mathews of the parish of Birchington in the Isle of Thanet in the County of Kent being of good health of body an of sound and perfect mind and memory (blessed be god therefore) do this sixth day of December one thousand seven hundred and thirty one making last will and testament in manner following (that is to say) IMPRIMIS I recommend my soul into the hands of almighty god who gave it me trusting through the merits of my saviour jesus christ to obtain pardon of my sins and to inherit everlasting life and my body I commit to the earth to be decently interred at the discretion of my executor hereafter named and as for touching and concerning my wordly estate I give and dispose thereof as followeth (that is to say)

IMPRIMIS I give and devise to my son Stephen Mathews the sum of twenty five pounds and to his five children one Guinea
ITEM I give and devise to my son John Mathews and to his heires and Assigns forever All that Messuage or Tentment wherein he now dwells with all and every of the appurtenences thereunto belonging or which now is in the occupation or professession of him the said John Mathews
Item I give to my said John Mathew's Six Children each of them one guinea
ITEM I give unto my said son John Mathews all and every Sum or Sums of money which he my said son is or standeth in debteth unto me by any ways or means whatsoever so that he shalt not be charged with them of any of them nor be any way accountable for them of any of them
ITEM I give and devise to my Son Israel's two Daughters, Sarah and Mary Mathews each of them the Sum of fifteen pounds
ITEM I give to my daughter Sarah Peak's four Children each of them two Guineas
ITEM I give to my Daughter Mary Claddish the sum of fifteen pounds and to her Nine Children each of them one Guinea
ITEM I give and devise to my Daughter Elizabeth Rowland the sum of thirty pounds and also to her daughter Ann Rowland one Guinea
Item I give and devise to my Daughter Ann Mathews the sum of fifty pounds
Item I give and devise unto my Wife Anne the Sum of twelve pounds a year out of my real Estate to be paid to her by my executor by even and equal half yearly payments for and during the term of her natural Life. I give also to my said Wife Anne for and during the term of her natural Life my best Chamber in the house wherein I now dwell with the Bed furniture and all other Necesoarys thereunto belonging
ITEM I give and devise from after the decease of my said Wife Anne unto my said Daughter Anne Mathews the Bed in the best Chamber with the Appurtenances and one pair of Case of Drawers

Item I give and devise unto my son Nathaniel Mathews and to his heirs and assigns forever all my Messuages Lands Tenements Hereditaments and real estate whatsoever and wheresoever ( not herein before devised) and also all and every the rest of Residue and Rmainder of my personal Estate Goods Debts ready money Effects and Chattells whatsoever and wheresoever to hold the same unto my son Nathaniel Mathews his heirs and assigns forever
ITEM I nominate and appoint my said son Nathaniel Mathews Executor of this my last Will and Testament IN WITNESS whereof I the said Stephen Mathews the Testator have this my last Will and Testament contained in one Sheet of paper set my hand and seal the day and year first above written Stephen Mathews
Signed Sealed and Declared by the Testator as and for his last Will and Testament in the pressence of us who at this Request subscribed our Names as Witnesses
